Communicate Your Purpose• The ability to

communicate effectively is perhaps the greatest tool a leader has.

• It’s your job as a leader to convince others that the program of the OA is worth one’s time, energy, and money.

Types of CommunicationPassive• Something that is

presented for members to find

Active• Something sent to or

something that reaches out to members

Page 4: Communication

Passive• Website: Great way to post

information, have an “official source” of info, always evolving, and location for contact information. • Facebook: Posting things on Pages,

where users don’t get notifications. • Posted Flyers: At camp, at

roundtable, etc.• Anything else?

Page 5: Communication

Active• Facebook Group: A little more involved than a page –

members get notifications for posts.• Nimat: Great way to get something out to every member,

but needs to be short and can’t be time sensitive.• Emails: Good for people who are already involved or

getting information to attendees.• Phone Calls: Infinitely better for people involved, takes

time but has a personable touch.• Face to Face meetings: The best way to go, such as

chapter meetings or campouts, unit elections.• Anything else?
