The Government of Karnataka under the Universities of Agricultural Sciences Act, 2009 and as

amended in 2012, has established five Farm Universities in the state with a view to impart quality agricultural

and horticultural education in Karnataka State. Among the Farm Universities, oldest is University of

Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore (UAS, Bangalore) established during 1964 located at Gandhi Krishi Vigyana

Kendra (GKVK) campus, Bengaluru. University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad (UAS, Dharwad) was

established in 1986 to cater to education, research and extension requirements of the Northern parts of

Karnataka State. University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot (UHS, Bagalkot), was established during 2008

to cater the teaching, research and extension needs in horticultural sector. During 2008, the University of

Agricultural Sciences, Raichur (UAS, Raichur) was separated out of University of Agricultural Sciences,

Dharwad with its headquarter located at Raichur to cater to the farming needs of the Kalyana Karnataka Region

of Karnataka State. During 2012, the fifth University was established at Shivamogga as Keladi Shivappa

Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences (KSNUAHS, Shivamogga) and this was formed

out of UAS, Bangalore and UHS, Bagalkot.

University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot offers B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture Degree programme;

University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru offers B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture; B.Sc. (Hons.) Sericulture;

B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering), University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad offers B.Sc. (Hons.)

Agriculture and B.Sc.(Hons.) Forestry Degree programmes; Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural

and Horticultural Sciences, Shivamogga offers B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture &

B.Sc.(Hons.) Forestry Degree programmes; University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur offers B.Sc. (Hons.)

Agriculture and B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) Degree programmes, in addition to other Degree

programmes.

Lateral admission to Bachelor’s Degree programmes has been introduced for Diploma (Horticulture),

Diploma (Agriculture), Diploma (Agricultural Engineering) Certificate holders from the Academic Year

2015- 16 and Diploma (Forestry) Certificate holders from the Academic Year 2017-18 and Diploma

(Sericulture) Certificate holders from the Academic Year 2022-23. Five per cent of the total intake in each

College / Degree programme will be allotted to Diploma holders as SUPERNUMERARY QUOTA. Lateral

admissions are made through ON-LINE allotment and no personal counseling is conducted.

The following details envisage the procedure for common admission to the Bachelor’s Degree

programmes through Lateral Entry in these five Farm Universities:

1. Candidates who possess two years Diploma (Horticulture) from any of the Farm Universities in Karnataka

are eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture

2. Candidates who possess two years Diploma (Agriculture) from any of the Farm Universities in Karnataka

are eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture

3. Candidates who possess two years Diploma (Agricultural Engineering) from any of the Farm Universities

in Karnataka are eligible for admission to B. Tech. (Agriculture Engineering).

4. Candidates who possess two years Diploma (Forestry) from any of the Farm Universities in Karnataka are

eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry.

5. Candidate Who passed two years Diploma (Sericulture) from any of the Farm Universities in Karnataka are

eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) Sericulture

6. Candidate should possess good moral character and conduct.

Entrance Examination will be in Kannada and consists of 50 MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS to be answered in one hour.

Note:

1. Merit list of all the candidates will be prepared for each Degree programme based on the total marks

obtained (Entrance Examination + OGPA in the Qualifying Examination).

2. If the marks scored among candidates are the same, then the OGPA in the qualifying examination shall be

the basis for determining the Merit.

3. As per the candidate preferences seats shall be allotted based on eligibility, merit; reservation of seats and

availability of seats in each College / Degree programme.

4. Candidates shall produce all TESTIMONIALS in support of their claims, IN ORIGINAL at the time of

Entrance Examination for verification.

5. All the candidates who are admitted shall pay the prescribed fees in full.

6. Candidates belonging to SC / ST / CAT-I shall pay the fees as prescribed. They may claim refund of

eligible amount directly from the Government of Karnataka later.

b. Entrance Examination

1. Entrance Examination will be conducted simultaneously on 20.10.2022 from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm The Entrance Examination will be conducted at the following Centers.

c. Important Instructions to Candidates before Filling the ON-LINE Application

1. ON-LINE Application Form is available on the website of https://pg-admission.kar.nic.in/ (from the link provided for Common Admission Lateral Entry for Under Graduate Degree programmes) of the Farm Universities of Karnataka State.

2. Go through the instructions before filling the ON-LINE Application Form.

3. Application fee of 1,000-00 for General and 500-00 for SC / ST / Cat-I Candidates shall be paid ON-LINE transfer facility provided on the Website https://pg-admission.kar.nic.in/ only.

4. Scanned copy of student’s Photograph, Signature, OGPA/ Marks Card, Caste, Income, K-K reservation certificates and SSLC Marks Card should be kept ready before applying online application for their uploading. The last date for uploading all relevant documents is 30.09.2022, 05.00 pm.

5. Register Number will be allotted to all candidates in their respective Admit Card. The candidates should invariably enter the Hall Ticket Number on OMR Sheet used for answering questions.

6. Candidates must carry photo ID proof at the time of Entrance Examination. It may be ID card issued by College last attended, Passport, Aadhar Card, Driving License or Voter ID card.

7. Candidates should visit the https://pg-admission.kar.nic.in/ of the Farm Universities on every important dates mentioned in this Brochure.

8. Fees once paid shall not be refunded. However, if a candidate cancels his/her admission, the Caution Money Deposit paid will be refunded after following due procedures.

9. Candidates shall satisfy themselves about the eligibility for admission to the Bachelors degree programme. No separate intimation will be given to the candidates in this regard.
