take the running on this. Let Sue Clarke or Ann know if you are inter-ested. Policies and Procedures One of the roles of this committee is to regularly review Club policies and procedures. This will continue throughout the year.

Wanted: Shadow Treasurer As this will be Kathryn’s last year as treasurer, Board discussed the desirability of having a Shadow treasurer to work with Kathryn to facilitate Club succession planning. Please get in touch with Kathryn if you are interested and would like to discuss learning the treasurer’s role

Communications

Committee: Chair—Sarah Cirillo, Rosa-lie Lake, Ashleigh Colquhoun The Comms committee has had its inaugu-ral meeting and set some goals for this year, one of which is to upload more sto-ries about our Club’s work to ZI “share your stories”. We have allocated general responsibilities for elements of communication: Sarah will

oversee the web page, Ashleigh will take on key responsibility for social media—mainly Facebook, and Rosalie will continue to do the newsletter. We have budgeted for a subscrip-tion to the publishing app called CANVA to ensure that our web and social media posts in particular can be appropriately sized, include our

branding and look professional. We will also investigate moving the newsletter to the mail chimp format ( like the Kyneton one) Finally, some very good news is that Board has now agreed on the costings and quotes to upgrade our web page so that individual members will be able to have access to members only information ( like ZI) and things like meeting minutes and photographs.

• Congratulations to first time grandmother Dale who recently welcomed granddaughter- Agnes Ruth

• Britnee has a placement in Rehab in the Castlemaine Hospital for 3 months and we

congratulate her on the news that there is a baby on the way!

• Marian is enjoying a week away with her daughter in Phuket, prior to undergoing surgery later in the month. • Kathryn is away for 3 weeks on the east coast of the US beginning in NY and then driving to Washington before heading north to Boston. • Janet Cobden is travelling north to Townsville to be at her daughters for the arrival of a new grandchild. She recently had a quick trip up north for her grandson’s 3rd birthday • Sue Clarke is away for 5 weeks travelling in Europe incorporating the Amster dam to Budapest river cruise.

• Bernadette is travelling to the US: Initially for 2 weeks in the East taking in NY, Washington and then on to Boston (retracing Kathryn’s footsteps? Too late to bump into Kathryn as Annette and Sally did recently in Tasmania.) Berna-dette’s next 2 weeks will be driving around the US west coast visiting the Grand Canyon and many other sights.

• Sarah C is spending a week in Sydney • Ann has a few days in Brisbane and then a fortnight later in Sydney all visiting grandchildren. Safe travels to all who are enjoying this special time.

• Thoughts and prayers are with Gay as she under-goes tests and plans treatment for her recovery.

• Julie Rivendell’s last few days in Amsterdam did-

n’t go to plan! She was hoping to spend her final days in the city going to galleries and touring the canals but unfortunately has had a stroke and is in hospital. She underwent emergency brain surgery and the medical team is hoping that they are past the worst of it. She can speak, and the loss of movement on her left side has dramatically im-proved already, but they are expecting a fairly long road to recovery. The Netherlands appears to have excellent multi-disciplinary care, but our best wishes go to Julie for a speedy recovery.

BREAST CUSHION MAKING and FILLING DAY Friday 24th May

Thank you to current Zonta members, plus Anita who attended the working bee on Friday. We had a great day with lots of fellowship once again . We completed 24 breast cushions ,we have 20 sewn cushions ready for filling plus 25 cushions have been taken home to be sewn in the coming weeks. New filling is required to complete the next cushions. Sue is delighted to have stock replenished, so we are organised for the breast care nurses once again.

Calling all green thumbs……... Our Club Christmas market makes a lot of money from our plant stall. The Fundraising com-mittee is requesting members who have gardens to propagate cuttings now so that they will be established ready for sale at the Christmas market on Nov 9th.

Pre-loved Handbag and Garage Sale Report Congratulations to Sally, Trish and the fundraising committee for the successful Garage Sale on Saturday May 18th. This committee was well supported by other members who helped set up, sell and pack up. Treasurer Kathryn has reported that the profit from the day was $823.65, but Sally has sold over $100 worth of left-over books since then. So the total is now closer to $1000. Most left over items have been packed away for a future sale, but some of the unsold handbags will be used for Tote or toiletry bags and some baby clothes were donated to the Sunshine group for distribution to needy families. Special thanks to all members who supported in many ways both before and on the day – a great team effort.
