Engaging Information

Your Facebook page should inform your audience, but it should also engage them.

Photos, videos, links and contests are ways to inform and engage!

UGA’s College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Facebook page does a great job of engaging their users.

Page 19: College of Agriculture Facebook Tutorial

Original Content – Engaging Posts

Share a monthly recipe from Ag Illustrated Ask people to share their favorite recipe!

Ask people questions Ex. What is your favorite booth at Ag

Roundup this year?

Page 20: College of Agriculture Facebook Tutorial

Original Content – Engaging Posts

“Fill in the blank” posts encourage people to be creative and interactive.

For example, you can post a fill-in-the-blank question such as My New Year’s resolution is _____.

Post a picture and ask people to come up with the best caption.

Page 21: College of Agriculture Facebook Tutorial

Original Content - Photos

Facebook users love photos Make an effort to include a photo

with most of your posts If you cannot use a photo, make sure

you embed a graphic or a link to your post

AVOID POSTING WITH TEXT ONLY!!

Page 22: College of Agriculture Facebook Tutorial

Original Content- Photos Pair an announcement with a photo This allows your announcement to

stand out better than text alone on the newsfeed

See how ALFA used a picture to draw your eye to the post about Food Day?

Even though the picture did not contribute any additional information!

The short text from the NCBA gets lost on the newsfeed. Users are less likely to read it.
