• information is in emails

• information is on the unsorted and unsearchable SharePoint servers

• different styles used for documentation

• system under test has few formal requirements

• distributes teams - onshore/offshore

• Information is out of date

• new team members are finding it difficult to get upto speed

• information overload

• we use facebook/twitter/instagram/google Plus to share information

outside work but not at work.


Role of the tester

• unique - has a 360 view of the company

• we talk and communicate with real people

• developers are poor business communicators

• to deliver projects

• now more than just testing

• raise defects and improve quality

My experience

• as a test consultant, i get put straight into the deep end

• too little information

• too much information

• out of date information

• I have to find key people/ key information sites

• I spend lots of time asking questions

• Some people are helpful

• What would be useful is a KB system

• I ensure that information that I learn is made available for all to see

• I sell my knowledge back to the business!
