Principal’s Message
It’s hard to believe that although we are only at the half
way
point in the school year, we are already proceeding with
next
year’s Kindergarten registration. Please guide any parents
who
are considering ESNI for their child’s education to contact
the
office or me. It would be our pleasure to answer any questions
or
set-up a school visit for those who are interested. In addition,
I
always look forward to meeting and welcoming students from
the
graduating class of 2031.
The school community is what makes ESNI remarkable. This is
due in great part to our parents and grandparents. Thank you
for
your continued support. Also, thank you to all the parents
and
grandparents who volunteer their time through various school
in-
itiatives and activities: Snack Program, Ski Club, Camp
Arnes,
etc. We sincerely appreciate the gift of your time.
As you read this month’s newsletter, you will notice how
vibrant
ESNI’s school life can be for our students. There are
opportuni-
ties for involvement at almost all ages: clubs (Pokemon,
Dungeons
& Dragons), sports, musical theatre, drama, improv., etc.
Along
with academics, extra-curricular activities can enhance a
student’s school experience and help with social skills
between
peers. We encourage it!

The format for the Science/Heritage Fair has changed to become a

scientific method, his-
torical method, etc.
The launch for the start of the research and the preparation for
the Knowledge Fair
will be on February 12. Teachers will share the success criteria
with student
sin order to prepare for the exhibit that will take place on the

EXCHANGE TRIP 2018
During the week of January 15-22, students from grade seven and
Grade eight went to
Baie-Saint Paul for an exchange trip.
These are some of the highlights and what we did. When we first
landed in Quebec, we
went on an hour bus ride to their school and had a snack. After
that, we went to their
houses. The next morning we went to Valcatier, which is a tubing
place near Old Quebec.
The ride was long but in the end, it was totally worth it. We
all preferred the
``Everest`` which is a long, steep ride down the slope. The
following day we into the
town of Old Quebec. In the morning, we went to the civilization
museum. After we had
looked around the museum, we had lunch and started to walk
around Old Quebec. In Old
Quebec, many people bought sweaters but the highlight for some
of us was Chocolato
Vieux-Quebec. They had the best ice cream and chocolate. On
Thursday, we went to
Massif, which is a ski resort.
In the morning, we took lessons and then ate lunch. Later that
day we went on the big
runs. The gondola was so fun! The following day we did spike
ball and a photo scavenger
hunt around Baie-Saint Paul. For lunch that day, we had poutine
in the school cafeteria.
After lunch, we went bowling at a nearby bowling lane. The
bowling lane was so fun and
most of us played ten-pin bowling for the first time. Then later
that night some of us
went to a big dinner party and had meat fondue it was
awesome.
When Friday came to an end and it was up to the hosts families
to plan the activities for
the weekend. Some of us went to shop in Baie-Saint Paul and
others went to a volleyball
tournament in Quebec City. Some people had also gone to a famous
restaurant called St.
Hubert and it was so good! On our last day in Baie-Saint Paul
everyone did last minute
things with their partners. Some went to the spa and others just
stayed home. In the
morning, some people went to a mini party and ate.
The day we left everyone was sad because Quebec was an amazing
experience. The plane
ride was long but we had finally made it home. Overall, we think
it was definitely a trip to
remember!
