2. Research In this final assignment of culture and civilization, I've chosen the concept of doing Coffee. I was just that curious about coffee ever since the first time when I saw my dad drinks coffee, almost every morning and nights for some times. Based on what I see, I think it is just like an energy drink for adult. Hence, I was taking this opportunity to make myself understand more about coffee. Coffee culture describes a social atmosphere or series of associated social behaviors that depends heavily upon coffee, particularly as a social lubricant. In addition to that, according to the research of mine, coffee may have potential health benefits, not too much of coffee but certain it will do. There are growing number of coffee shops in Malaysia, the well-known coffee in Malaysia is called ' Kopi O', as known as Malaysia version of espresso, This 'Kopi O' is a traditional coffee that still have their place in the Malaysia market. But in fact, 'Kopi O' doesn't exist in the list of the real coffee beverage, because the coffee bean of 'Kopi O' doesn't content 100% of the real coffee bean, it means there are some other ingredient in it. Thus, we won't see any 'Kopi O' in the country other than Malaysia. During the progression of doing this assignment, I found that there is actually still a lot of coffee that we may not even have heard of them before, or some we may have seen the words on the menu board but never bother to try it. So to get more understanding on coffee, I ordered and drank it one by one. The coffee that I've ordered are cappuccino, mocha, latte and affogato. For those coffees I drank, I actually did feel the atmosphere and the environment are peaceful and calm, so I've decided to make it as my theme. By the way, probably because I am not an expert, so I can't really differentiate all of them by their taste, I am so grateful that there was this kind boss taught me how to tell which coffee are them based on their looks and aroma. 3. Here is the picture of how to differentiate coffees, and I hope this helps. 4. SUMMARY OF THE RESEARCH: Throughout this assignment, I've gone to 4 coffee shops, which is Espresso Lab, Good Friends Restaurant and Cafe, Tryst and It's a grind. In theses four coffee shops, I drank four cups of coffee in each of the coffee shops, and each coffee shop I'd order the are all different coffee, they are Mocha from Espresso lab, Affogato from Good Friends Restaurant and Cafe, Latte from Tryst and Cappuccino from It's a grind. For the 4 coffee shops, I've only chosen 3 coffees from the 3 coffee shops which is from Espresso Lab, Good Friends Restaurant and Cafe and Tryst, due to their environment and the coffees of them are more suitable to be in this assignment. So here's the map and its rationale, Good Friends Restaurant and cafe, this place look incredibly comfortable. Felt like I had taken a portal to some cozy cafe in the UK. I just love how they had a lot of bricks and vintage feel to the place. If you're in a rush, they have this window directly from inside that you can order and take-away immediately. They also have some entertainment such as board game and football table for customers to play. In addition to that, their staffs are friendly as well. 5. Espresso Lab, as I walked in, I was greeted by the cakes in the display chiller. The lab has 2 storeys so if you don't feel like cramping in the lower ground, just walk up. The level upstairs is spacious and there is another feature wall featuring all the different types of coffee. They're open for reservation so if you would like to hold a little gathering or birthday party for a dear friend or girlfriend or boyfriend or anybody at all! Club meetings work well here too. There is also a smoking area on the upstairs balcony, it has a very decent view and it is very breezy up there. Tryst Coffee Shop, this coffee has been newly open for 2- 3months and I actually went there for a few times, every time I went there it's either full house, or it's crowd of people. As for that, I assume there must be having something really attractive. In addition, they do have shisha too. Tryst is also a two storey cafe where the first level has a cozy setting, some lovely vintage decor, along with edgy graffiti on the walls. The second floor is simplistic with basic furnishing and for those who enjoy shisha. 6. DRAFT PHOTOS AND LAYOUTS: 7. FINAL PHOTOS AND LAYOUTS-: 8. PACKAGING: 9.
