Before cooking

If the pressure indicator does not rise:■ This is normal for the first few minutes.■ If the problem persists, check that: There is enough liquid inside the pot.The source of heat is high enough; if not, increase the heat. The pressure selector is not turned to .The pressure cooker is closed properly. The clamps must be in contactwith the edge of the lid.The control module is screwed in properly. The seal for the lid is positioned correctly. The seal is clean and in good condition; change it if required.Check the cleanness and the mobility of the pressure indicator.

If the pressure indicator has risen but no steam isreleased from the steam outlet during cooking:■ Position the programme selector on :

- If still no steam is released, place the pressure cooker under coldrunning water to release the pressure inside the cooker, and then openthe cooker and clean the operating valve and the steam release outlet(see paragraph “Cleaning and Maintenance”).

- If steam is released, then the pressure level inside the cooker isnot sufficient for cooking so reposition the programme selector on theoriginal setting.

■ Before each use, check that the control module is correctly fastened(retaining nut is tightened); you can use a coin if necessary.

■ Before each use, check that the operating valve (selector at positionor or ) and the safety valve inside the lid can move

freely.■ Close the lid.■ Set the programme selector to the position indicated in your recipe.■ Set the timer for the required cooking time*.■ Put the pressure cooker on the heat source at the highesttemperature.

Turn the pressure cooker so that the unlocking button isfacing you.

During cooking

■ Cooking starts when steam escapes in a steadyflow from the outlet with a regular hissing sound.Lower the heat. ■■ For models fitted with a timer, it startsautomatically (beeps notify you). Once countdownhas started you can remove the timer from thecontrol module and carry it with you.

As with all cooking appliances, make sureyou properly supervise the cooking area ifchildren or certain severely disabled persons areclose by.

■ As soon as the cooking time is up, turn off theheat source.■■ For models fitted with a timer, it alerts you with asound signal that the cooking time has finished.Turn off the source of heat and press the + or –button to stop the timer sounding.

!

If steam escapes from around the edgeof the lid, check that:■ The lid is properly closed.■ The lid seal is properly fitted.■ The lid seal is clean and in good condition; ifnecessary change it.■ The lid, the safety valve and the operating valveare clean.■ The edge of the pot is not damaged/dented.

If one of the security devices is activated(safety valve or seal):■ Turn off the heat source immediately.■ Let the pressure cooker cool down.■ Open the cooker. ■ Check and clean the operating valve, steamrelease outlet, safety valve and seal.

End of cooking

* depending on model

To release pressure■ After the heat has been turned off you have twoalternatives:■■ Slow pressure release: gradually turn theprogramme selector to the steam position .When the pressure indicator drops, your PressureCooker is no longer under pressure. This is used forstews, vegetables, joints of meat and fish dishes.

Beware of the steam jet during steam release.

If you notice an unusual release of pressureduring decompression: turn the selector to position

or then repeat the decompressionprocedure slowly, making sure that the pressurehas released normally.

■■ Fast pressure release:

Remove the timer before this operation*.

■ Place the Pressure Cooker under cold runningwater. When the pressure indicator pin drops, yourPressure Cooker is no longer under pressure, turnthe pressure regulator valve to position . This isused for soups, rice, pasta, milk puddings, cake andpudding mixes, recipes containing rice or pasta, orrecipes with a high liquid content. If in doubt, usethe fast release method.

!

!!

If you cannot open the lid:■ Check that the pressure indicator is down in thenormal position.■ If not, release pressure, as needed, by placing thepressure cooker under a cold tap.

■ When the pressure indicator is down in thenormal position, all pressure has been released fromthe pressure cooker.

Steam continues to escape via the outlet fora few more seconds – do not leave your handabove the outlet.

■ You can then open the pressure cooker.

To move/lift the pressure cooker use the sidehandles on the pot. Never use the lid knob to moveor lift it.

If the food is burnt or undercooked, check:■ The cooking time.■ The heat source.■ That the programme selector is on the correctsetting.■ The quantity of liquid.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Do not leave food standing in your pressure cooker.

Never use bleach or chlorine based products to clean yourpressure cooker as these damage the quality of stainless steel.

Remove the timer before cleaning*.

■ Wash your cooker after each use.■■ For models fitted with folding pan handles, we recommend cleaningthe pressure cooker with the handles folded.

Dishwasher cleaning■ You can wash the pot and the basket in the dishwasher.■ You can also put the lid into the dishwasher, on the condition that you have removed the timer* and the sealfrom the lid.

Never put the timer* or the seal into the dishwasher.

Hand cleaning■ Wash your pot and basket in warm water with a little washing-upliquid. You can use a scouring pad on the inside.

■ Remove the seal from the lid and clean it in warm water with alittle washing-up liquid.

■ Clean your lid under water with a sponge and washing-up liquid.■ Let the lid drip dry after cleaning.

Don’t leave the lid to soak in water if the control module isstill attached.

!

!

!

!!

If the pot starts to change colour:■ It has blackened: you can clean it with a special stainless steelcleaner, sold in hardware stores.■ Iridescent glints appear: clean them off using some white vinegar orspecial stainless steel cleaner.

If food has burnt in the pot:■ Leave the pot to soak before cleaning it.■ Never use bleach or chlorine based products to clean it.

Cleaning the control module

Never open the control module.

■ Check visually and in plain daylight that thesteam outlet is not blocked. If it is blocked, clean itusing a cotton-bud, then rinse it under water.

■ Wash the control module under running water.

■ Check that the operation device can move freely.

■ Check the mobility of the operating valve(selector to position or or ) .

Do not use any sharp or pointed objects tocarry out these checks.

■ You can also put the control module in thedishwasher.

■ Check that the module seals are correctly fitted. If these seals are missing or damaged, leaks canoccur underneath the module during the pressurecooking operation. TEFAL Safety Systems

Your Clipso Control is equipped with several safetydevices, which guarantee operating security.

Closing Security■ The jaws must be in contact with the edge of thepot. If this does not happen, steam will be releasedfrom the pressure indicator and the pressure cookerwill not reach pressure.

Opening Security■ If the cooker is under pressure, the unlockingbutton will not work because the pressure indicatorpin locks the mechanism. ■ In this case, do not attempt to force open the lid, instead turn the programme selector to and waitfor total pressure release.■ Watch the position of the pressure indicator. Itshould be down in normal position in order to openthe lid.

Over Pressure Security■ During operation, if the steam release becomesblocked, the over pressure security devices comeinto action:

■■ First device, the safety valve releases thepressure and the steam escapes from under thecontrol module.

■■ Second device, steam flows from between the lidand the pot.

If one of these security devices is set off:■ Turn off the heat source.■ Let the pressure cooker cool down.■ Open the cooker.■ Check and clean the operating valve, steamrelease outlet, safety valve and seal.
