CAPITAL REGION – Albany Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk will be held on Sunday, September 13, at Elm Avenue Town Park in Delmar. Registration opens at 8:00am. Sign up at Lust-garten.org or call 1-866-789-1000.

SARATOGA COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL EXHIBITIONCLIFTON PARK – A Saratoga County Arts Council “Art in Public Places” Exhibition is on display in the 2nd floor Gallery at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, for the month of August. Featured is the textile and quilt work of the Quilt North Guild. The title of the exhibit is Small Works. This exhibit showcases smaller “wall” size quilts, as compared to the traditional “bed” size quilts, which our members create. The quilts show a range of skills and interests, from tra-ditional table linens to artistic surfaces that might be more at home in a gallery setting. Piec-ing, appliqué, hand and machine quilting, dyeing, painting, embroidery all have a place in contemporary quilt making.

A NEW ADDITION TO MUSEUM PASS PROGRAM

CLIFTON PARK/GLENVILLE – The Friends of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library are pleased to announce a new museum has been added to the Museum Pass Program. The addition of The Empire State Aerosciences Museum is one of 11 museums in this program at the library. The Empire State Aerosciences Museum is a one-of-a-kind cultural resource lo-cated at Schenectady County Airport in the Town of Glenville, NY, at the site of the former General Electric Flight Test Center. Dedicated to interpreting aviation, particularly as related to New York State, the Museum offers visitors a variety of enjoy-able and educational experiences, including interpretive ex-hibits, a spectacular collection of restored aircraft, the state’s largest aviation library, as well as education programs. The Empire State Aerosciences Museum pass admits a family of 4. Library Cardholders in good standing who live in the Library District and are 18 years of age or older may now check out membership museum passes for eleven museums at no cost; occasionally, there may be a charge for a special exhibit. Mu-seum passes may be borrowed for 3 days. For more informa-tion about each museum, inquire at the “Ask a Librarian” Desk at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library.

ONGOING EVENT AT THE SHENENDEHOWA ADULT COMMUNITY CENTER

CLIFTON PARK – A Yoga class is being held at the Shenende-howa Adult Community Center, located at 6 Clifton Com-mon Court, Clifton Park, every Thursday for 1 hour, from 9:55-10:55am. This is a slow-paced Yoga practice but requires that the participant be able to come to the floor and get up unassisted. Focus is on breathing and proper alignment and concludes with 10 minutes of relaxation/meditation. $6 for ACC members, $8 for non-members per class. For more in-formation, please contact Deanna Seabridge at 885-2648, or email [email protected]

VOLUNTEERS HELP YOU STAY IN YOUR HOMESO. SARATOGA COUNTY – Is it getting more difficult to man-age living in your home? You might appreciate a volunteer to give you support like Bessie has been receiving from Care Links Program volunteers. June helps Bessie by shopping for her groceries because she can’t get out to buy for herself anymore. Walking is too difficult. If you could use some as-sistance, Care Links of Southern Saratoga County offers free services to 60+ seniors. Friendly visiting, respite, “handy help-ing”, housekeeping, are ways you can benefit from services. Call 399-3262 to find out how a dependable caring person can make your life easier.

THE JOYFUL NOISE, “WE ARE ONE”

CAPITAL DISTRICT – The Joyful Noise was a contemporary Christian music ministry well known in the Capital District region and beyond, during the years of 1969-1993. The Joyful Noise was a large group of young people, led spiritually and musically by Mr. Bill Womer. The Joyful Noise was the core of what would later evolve into “Christian Music Ministries”. The positive side of social media, as well as the unfortunate passing of key members, has stirred interest in a reunion of The Joyful Noise, with the recognition, that still, “We are One”. A re-union is planned for October 10, 2015 focused on reuniting and catching up. The reunion will culminate with a barbeque dinner and an evening Praise and Worship service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Many of the songs spanning three decades when young lives were forever impacted by this experience will be sung together again. We will also be including all the par-ents and family members in the Saturday night service who supported each of us during our “JN” years. During these early planning stages we are interested in help locating former mem-bers, and identifying folks to assist on various committees that have been formed. Please visit the Facebook page for Christian Music Ministries if you are a former member and want to connect, or contact us at [email protected]

Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to answer me in this necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Mary con-ceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Sweet mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal, you who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life you are with me, I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated from you in eternal glory. Thank you for your mercy towards me and mine. The person must say this prayer 3 consecutive days, after 3 days the request will be granted. This prayer must be published after the favor is granted. TIPS TO MAKE FAMILY SUMMER EXCURSIONS A BREEZE

(StatePoint) Shuttling the family from place to place is hard enough on a typical day, but when you are out of town for a summer trip or even just out for the day, keeping your ducks in a row can be even more challenging.

Here a few ways to make your excursions this summer a total breeze.

• Use mapping technology to plan your route ahead of time -- but be fl exible. Smartphone apps that update in real time can keep you informed about road closures, bumper-to-bumper traffi c and other road trip snafus to minimize your stress on the road.

• While you may need only your thoughts to keep you occu-pied, don’t forget to pack plenty of diversions for the kids. Book, toys and games will help keep the tired phrase “are we there yet?” at bay on road trips and keep kids entertained.

• There`s nothing quite as annoying as watching your smart-phone’s battery slowly dwindle down, especially when you need it most. Look for a combination AC adapter and travel battery charger in one, such as Panasonic`s new QE-AL102K and QE-AL201K, which wrap the two into a hybrid mobile charger that can keep you juiced even when you are no-where near an outlet.

• If you are going on a lengthy road trip, get your car in-spected before departing. Be sure your car is equipped with a spare tire and the basic tools needed to handle common roadside issues.

• Take your family’s dietary restrictions into consideration when you are traveling somewhere new. Will there be menu options for fi nicky eaters? Some research ahead of time can save you time when the kids are fussing. If need be, don’t for-get a bagged lunch for the road in a cooler, along with favor-ite snacks and drinks.

When you are on the go this summer, have fun with confi -dence. Don’t leave home without the tools, technology and knowledge you need to enjoy the experience.
