11TH ANNUAL KARAOKE CONTEST & SILENT AUCTIONCLIFTON PARKTwin Bridges Rotary will hold its 11th annual Karaoke Contest and Silent Auction Friday, October 2 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Clifton Park. The event benefits a number of charitable programs in the Southern Saratoga area and its lots of fun as well. There are several differ-ent ways for area businesses and individuals to show support: sponsor-ship levels ranging of $250 and $500 (the $1000 Platinum Sponsorship has already been sold to Catricala Funeral Home of Halfmoon); purchase of a corporate table to the event with discounted ticket prices; and do-nation of an item or service for the Silent Auction. Individual tickets can be purchased in advance for $50 at www.twinbridgesrotary.com or at the door for $60. This year Twin Bridges has designated two area service orga-nizations for special support: CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services which offers a variety of services to youth in Saratoga County and To Love A Child which provides humanitarian assistance to impoverished children and their families throughout the world. The rest of the proceeds will go to deserving local projects throughout the year. The Karaoke Event itself features a contest for serious singers (limited to the first 15 paid entrants) with celebrity judges and a $500 first prize, followed by time for any audi-ence member who just wants to get up to the microphone and belt it out. CLIFTON PARK The Clifton Park Fire Department will Kick-Off their monthly All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, October 4th. The event will run from 8am to 11:30am at the firehouse on Old Route 146, between Routes 9 and 146 in Clifton Park. The menu will include Pancakes, Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, Toast, Coffee, Juice and Milk. The costs for the all you can eat breakfast is $5.00 for Adults, $3.00 for Children ages 6 to 12 and FREE for kids under age 6. Tours of the fire trucks and equipment will also be given to all who attend as we also kick off National Fire Prevention Week, which is October 4th to October 10th, with fire safety information. Come and get your fill of our pancakes and learn some safety tips!

ANNUAL FALL RUMMAGE SALEMECHANICVILLE The Mechanicville United Methodist Church Annual Fall Rummage Sale will be held on Friday, October 2nd from 9:00am until 2:00pm and Saturday, October 3rd from 9:00am until noon. Saturday is Fill a Bag for a Dollar day! ANNUAL HARVEST ROAST BEEF DINNERSTILLWATER The Womens Association of Stillwater United Church, 747 Hudson Avenue, is holding its Annual Harvest Roast Beef Dinner on Thurs-day, October 15th from 5:00-6:30pm in the Churchs Fellowship Hall. A variety Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, November 7 from 9am to 6pm and Sun-day, November 8 from 9am to 1pm at Corpus Christi Church Hall in Round Lake. ANNUAL TURKEY DINNERVISCHER FERRY On Saturday, October 17th, Amity Re-formed Church located at 335 Riverview Road, Vischer Ferry will hold their annual Turkey Dinner. The traditional dinner will be served family style. GRADE STUDENTS THROUGH EVERY KID IN A PARK INITIATIVESTILLWATER Saratoga Na-tional Historical Park invites all 4th grade students to visit the park for free as part of the White Houses new Every Kid in a Park program. Fourth grade students can now go to www.everykidinapark.gov to complete an activity and obtain a free annual en-try pass to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, in-cluding national parks. Dur-ing the National Park Ser-vices centennial celebration, we want everyone to get to know their national parks, and were offering a special invitation to fourth graders and their families to discover everything that national parks offer, said National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis. We hope these free passes for fourth graders will introduce 4th graders, their classes, and families to our national treasures, places where they can run and play, explore and learn. Saratoga National Historical Park offers a variety of activities that fourth graders and their family can enjoy. To receive their free pass for national parks, fourth graders can visit the Every Kid in a Park website and play a game to access their special Every Kid in a Park pass. Fourth graders and their families can then use this pass for free entry national parks and other federal public lands and waters across the country through August 31, 2016. The website also includes fun and engaging learning activi-ties aligned to educational standards, trip planning tools, safety and packing tips and other important and helpful information for educators and parents. In addition to providing every fourth grader in America a free entry pass for national parks and federal public lands and wa-ters, fourth grade educators, youth group leaders and their students across the country will also participate in the program through field trips and other learning experiences. Some opportunities currently in need are: AARP Tax Counselors - assist taxpayers prepare and file tax returns, Free service. Discovery Box Mentors - work with elementary school children with their reading skills. Office clerical help needed in a few small non-profit offices with answering phone calls, and assisting with various tasks. Osteoporosis Exercise Leaders are needed to assist lead groups in the program. Skilled and Unskilled Laborers are needed to help on housing projects throughout Saratoga County. As-sist various projects with Fund Raising activities. All programs that RSVP volunteers assist with provide FREE services to the participants/recipients. On December 1, 2012 four 17 year old high school students were returning home from a local college basketball game when their vehicle was blindsided on the highway.

Chris Stewart (our son) and Deanna Rivers were killed immediately. Bailey Wind (Christopher's girl-friend) and Matt Hardy (Deanna's boyfriend) were severely injured, hospitalized and continue in their healing process.

Chris was one of the 2012 captains of the Shenen-dehowa Plainsmen football team with a love for the game and for the school. He finished out his football season but never got to walk across stage to receive his high school diploma. In honor of our son Chris, we are fundraising to renovate the old and dated media box on the football field. We are looking for a way to improve the school facilities and honor the legacy of our son at the same time. We envision the Christopher Stewart Media Box to be an enhancement to the current space, welcoming spectators and visitors to the stadium. The new Media Box will be visually and esthetically attractive to see upon arrival into the stadium. Our beautiful son will always be a part of Shenendehowa and to allow his legacy to hold a place on the campus would be wonderful. Please help us make it a reality. We will be sure to announce the dedication night in hopes you will be there with us and we hope to fill the stadium to kickoff the ribbon cutting for this fantastic new addition to the Shenendehowa CSD campus. ANNUAL 2-MILE WALK IN THE PARKCLIFTON PARK The staff, boards, and volunteers of CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services invite the public to participate in a 2-mile Walk in the PARK around Clifton Park on Saturday, October 17. The Walks goal is to inform the community of the valuable contributions that CAPTAIN Youth and Family services makes to improve the lives of the residents of our community -- and to raise the needed funds to maintain a wide range of imperative programs that help reduce the pressing social issues facing our schools and neighborhoods: youth homelessness, poverty, bullying, hunger, academic failure and family dysfunction. A day of fun and interesting activities are planned for the whole family including face painting, refreshments and door prizes. All who reside, work, and visit Southern Saratoga County are encouraged to come out and enjoy a walk with the community while helping CAP-TAIN provide basic and necessary assistance to friends, class-mates, and neighbors in their times of need. As the holidays and winter approach, the basic needs of your neighbors will increase. We hope you will join us for our Walk in the Park, said Sue Malinowski Catroppa, Executive Director of CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services. The Walk will begin at 9am, Oc-tober 17 with registration starting at 8:30am at the CAPTAIN Main office 5 Municipal Plaza, Clifton Park (Town Safety Building). Registration fees are $20 per family ($25 day of the event) - $10 for individuals ($12 day of the event). Group rates are available. You may register online at www.captaincares.org or at the event. There will be an open house at CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services main office located at 5 Municipal Plaza, Suite 3 in Clifton Park. Representatives will be available to answer questions about CAPTAINs programs and services including: Homeless Youth Shelter, CAP teens - Youth De-

QUILT RAFFLECLIFTON PARK The Shenen-dehowa Adult Community Center, located at 6 Clifton Common Court, Clifton Park, will be holding their annual quilt raffle on December 14, at 1pm. This beautiful quilt, hand made by our seniors, won first place and best of fair at the 2015 Saratoga County Fair and is appraised at over $2,600! MEET MOJO THE TALKING CROWCLIFTON PARK Join Beth Bidwell of Wild Things Environ-mental Education at the Shenendehowa Adult Community Center, 6 Clifton Common Court, Clifton Park, on October 12, at 1pm as she reads her new book, Mojo, the Fabulous (Talking!!) Crow. Afterwards, meet Mojo and learn some fas-cinating facts about the crow. Kids ages 5 and older are also welcome and encouraged to attend. VETERANS DAY HONORED WITH HAND CRAFTED AMERICAN QUILT

CLIFTON PARK A member of Catholic Daughters of America and a master quilt maker, wanting to help Books for Troops send their books to the troops, decided to create a specially designed quilt to donate to the organization. The value of this quilt is estimated at $500. The cost of making the quilt was also part of her donation. This beautiful, original quilt decid-ed in patriotic colors measures 80x 60and is large enough to fit a twin sized bed, act as a generous throw or nicely dec-orate an empty wall.
