6th Sunday of Easter
6th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B)Jesus did not believe in
isolating the lepers, who are most in need of compassion. The
reason why He heals the afflicted man even at the risk of being
declared an outcast Himself. The mission of an Israelite was to
participate in public worship of the only God. Yet, in order to
enter into the Temple to take part in a religious assembly, he had
to perform various rituals which made him pure.
In the first Reading, Yahweh tells Moses and Aaron, A person
infected with leprosy must wear torn clothing and leave his hair
uncombed; he must cry, Uncleanunclean live away from others (Lev.
13:45-46). And in order for him to be able to participate again in
the religious ritual in the Temple, he has to be declared cleansed
by a priest. The Old Testament Laws addressed people who had not yet
come to religious maturity and for that reason imposed on them a
different way of life. These laws began to be strictly observed
from the time of Ezra (after the Babylonian Captivity) and were
followed by the Jewish community of the last centuries before
Christ. So it is obvious why during the ministry of Jesus, the Jews
still clung excessively to these p r e s c r i p t i o n s
the leper, the person in need. Suddenly, a member of the group
comes to us, touches our back, taps our shoulder, puts his hands on
our shoulders or may even hug us. How do we feel? Dont we feel
better? We feel we are not alone. Somebody is affirming us, telling
us to go on, until we realize we are able to release everything
that had been bothering us. And we feel relieved or I may say
healed.
Reflecting on todays Gospel, who do you think are our modern-day
lepers? They are those people in need. They may be with their
families but are made to feel nobody in family activities and
decisions. They are the students who are bullied perhaps by their
teachers, classmates and friends. In society, the poor, deprived,
oppressed and exploited (PDOE) who are just remembered during
election period. Sometimes we make lepers of ourselves by our
annoying attitude, like self- righteousness, tactlessness,
conceitedness, that turn off people and drive them away from us.How
can we be the healing touch and words of Jesus? By doing our
Christian responsibilities. We have to be observant and not only be
engrossed
in our personal affairs. In our observation of the happenings
around, we ask ourselves, If Jesus is here in this situation, what
would He do? Do it!
Jesus Healing Touch and WordsJulieta G. Aquilowhich were
originally requirements only
for those wishing to take part in religious acts. Jesus
criticized this confusion of legal purity by exhibiting purity of
conscience. Why? It is because, for the Jews, leprosy is a scourge
from God, a punishment for grave sins. A leper is a living dead. He
is unclean, and anyone who touches him risks not only physical
infection, but also ritual impurity. He must not only isolate
himself from his family and friends but must warn passersby of his
presence by shouting, Unclean, unclean or by ringing a bell he
himself brings. But for Jesus, who is a leper? A leper is an image
of His Father, His brother or sister, a member of His Mystical Body
and someone who is destined for heaven at the end of time. And
because he or she is not accepted in society, considered an outcast
and a member of the marginalized group, he is the one who needs
most His understanding, love, mercy, affirmation and
compassion. These feelings made Jesus in the Gospel today stretch
out His hand and touch him saying, I do want you to be clean.
Immediately, the leper was made clean by Jesus touch and words.
Telling the leper to go to the priest for a certification that he
can now return to normal life with his family and friends. In the
depth of our group sharing activities, we sometimes stop for a
moment, stammer or even cry because the experience
still affects us. At this moment, we are

intensyon sang Obispo. Apang kon may ginbaton sia nga donasyon agud
Kag agud indi matabo nga malipatan sang pari nga nakabaton sia
ginapatuman sang Obispo tuhoy diri.
Ginatago man sa tabernakulo
kabug-at sang sala kag nagapangita kita sing kapatawaran kag
pag-ayo.

Pero sarang man
Place (Retreat House) nga ginadumalahan sang mga Religious of
the Assumption Sisters. Sang tuig 2006-2007, nagtudlo ako sa sina

nagabulig man sa mga ulobrahon kon wala ako klase. Naghiwat kami
sang diutay nga reunion sang akon mga estudyante nga akon
ginatudluan sang Christian Living Education sang una. Nagkadto kami
sa La Presa kag nagpanyapon sa SM City. Of course, indi kompleto

kapiestahan sang Birhen sang Lourdes, Ginsaulog
atubangan kag nagpangayo sing bulig. Siling niya: Kon gusto mo,
sarang mo ako maayo.41Si Jesus nagbatyag sing daku nga kaluoy,

sa St. Elizabeth of Hungary Kinder School, Jaro Cathedral Compound.
Ini ginpanguluhan ni Fr. Randy Doromal. Pagkahapon, sa takna nga
5:30, ginselebrar ang Misa ni Msgr. Higinio C. Velarde Jr., Kura
Paroko. Ginsundan ini sang Prosesyon palibot sa plaza sang Jaro
sang alas 6:00 sa gab-i kag Eucharistic Healing sa sulod sang
Katedral sa pagpamuno nanday Fr. Randy Doromal kag Msgr. Alejandro
Esperancilla.
Moses nga ginhatagan sang Dios sang tanan nila nga kinahanglanon;
ikaduha, ni David nga maisog, madamo
sing hangaway; kag ikatlo, ni Solomon nga hari nga madamo sing
manggad.
kita may paglaum pareho sang aruon. Dulaon naton ang aruon sa
aton panimalay, buluthuan, opisina, simbahan kag katilingban. Kon
Jesukristo?2. Paano ikaw mangin instrumento nga matukiban kag
mapaayo ang aru sang imo isigkatawo? 3. Sa aton Magagmay nga
Kristianong Katilingban nga tinguha bala kita nga mangin malimpyo
kita sa aru? Ano nga klase sang aru ang nagapugong sang aton
kanami gid sang amon istoryahanay. Daw wala man gap sa tunga ko kag
sang mga staff and personnel sang Assumption Sabbath Place. Wala
mabinungahon gid sang akon eksperyensiya.
Amon narealizar
nga importante gid nga we keep the presence of Jesus in our midst
because it is the only way that we can move forward.
man kita magpahuway. Paagi sa pagpahuway, ginahatagan kita sang
Ginoo sang bag-o nga kusog kag kabakod agud nga sa aton pag-atubang
liwat
sang aton mga responsibilidad, we become more passionate,
zealous and committed. Subong man, paagi sa pagbakasyon, we gain
new perspective and we also learn a lot of lessons from the people
we met and our experiences.Nahanungod naman sa Eukaristiya, maayo
man nga pamangkuton naton ang aton kaugalingon, sa akon adlaw-adlaw
ukon kada Domingo nga pagsimba, nangin balaan bala ako? Ano bala
akon balaan nga pagkabuhi bilang pari - pari nga mapinasensiyahon,
simple, mabinuligon, mapisan, matutom kag ilabi sa tanan,
mapinangamuyuon.

Pope Francis Lenten Message 2015abridged by Armando A. Sue
Make your hearts FirmDear Brothers and Sisters,Lent is a time of
renewal for the whole Church, for each communities and every
believer. Above all it is a time of grace (2 Cor 6:2). God does not
ask of us anything that he himself has not first given us. We love
because he first has loved us (1 Jn 4:19). He is not aloof from us.
Each one of us has a place in his heart. He knows us by name, he
cares for us and he seeks us out whenever we turn away from him. He
is interested in each of us; his love does not allow him to be
indifferent to what happens to us. Usually, when we are healthy and
comfortable, we forget about others (something God the Father never
does): we are unconcerned with their problems, their sufferings and
the injustices they endure Our heart grows cold. As long as I am
relatively healthy and comfortable, I dont think about those less
well off. Today, this selfish attitude of indifference has taken on
global proportions, to the extent that we can speak of a
globalization of indifference. It is a problem which we, as
Christians, need to confront. When the people of God are converted
to his love, they find answers to the questions that history
continually raises. One of the most urgent challenges which I would
like to address in this Message is precisely the globalization of
indifference.
Indifference to our neighbor and to God also represents a real
temptation for us Christians. Each year during Lent we need to hear
once more the voice of the prophets who cry out and trouble our
conscience.God is not indifferent to our world; he so loves it that
he gave his Son for our salvation. In the Incarnation, in the
earthly life, death, and resurrection of the Son of God, the gate
between God and man, between heaven and earth, opens once for
all. The Church is like the hand holding open this gate, thanks
to her proclamation of Gods word, her celebration of the sacraments
and her witness of the faith which works through love (cf. Gal
5:6). But the world tends to withdraw into itself and shut that
door through which God comes into the world and the world comes to
him. Hence the hand, which is the Church, must never be surprised
if it is rejected, crushed and wounded.Gods people, then, need this
interior renewal, lest we become indifferent and withdraw into
ourselves. To further this renewal, I would like to propose for our
reflection three biblical texts.
1. If one member suffers, all suffer together (1 Cor 12:26) The
Church
The love of God breaks through that fatal withdrawal into
ourselves which is indifference. The Church offers us this love of
God by her teaching and especially by her witness. But we can only
bear witness to what we ourselves have experienced. Christians are
those who let God clothe them with goodness and mercy, with Christ,
so as to become, like Christ, servants of God and others. This is
clearly seen in the liturgy of Holy Thursday, with its rite of the
washing of feet. Peter did not want Jesus to wash his feet, but he
came to realize that Jesus

Apostolate of OFW Families 3rd Year Anniversary
What is ash Wednesday?Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the
Season of Lent. This year, Ash Wednesday will fall on February
18.
Obsevances include: repentance, reflection, fasting, abstinence
and good works which prepare us for Christs Resurrection on Easter
Sunday. By being faithful to Christ we hope for His mercy and
redemption. Why do we receive the ashes?Following the example of the
Ninevites, of the Old Testament who did penance by wearing
sackcloth and rubbing on ashes, the priest marks our foreheads with
ashes to remind us of our mortality and to instill in us humility.
We remember this when we are told by the priest or minister one of
the following:
Remember, you are dust, and to dust you will return.
Repent, and believe in the Gospel. (Mark 1:15)Ashes signify
repentance made sacramental by the blessing of the Church.
Through marking or putting of ashes a spirit of humility and
sacrifice is developed in us.The imposition of ashes comes from an
old tradition of the early Church. Christians who had committed
grave faults performed public penance. On Ash Wednesday, the Bishop
blessed the hair shirts which they were to wear during the forty
days of penance, and sprinkled over them ashes made from the palms
from the previous year. Then while the faithful recited the Seven
Penitential Psalms, the penitents were driven out of the church
because of their sins just like Adam, the first man, who was driven
out of Paradise because of his disobedience. During that time the
penitents did not enter the church again until Maundy Thursday
after having won reconciliation by the toil of forty days penance
and sacramental absolution. Later, all Christians, whether public
or secret penitents came to receive ashes out of devotion. In
earlier times, the distribution of ashes was followed by a
penitential procession. Examples of this is found in the Bible: I
turned to the Lord God, pleading in earnest prayer, with fasting,
sackcloth and ashes. (Daniel 9:3)
O daughter of my people, gird on sackcloth, roll in the ashes
(Jeremiah 6:26)
The ashesThe ashes are made from the blessed palms used in the
Palm Sunday celebration of the previous year. The ashes are
sanctified with holy water and are scented by exposure to incense
and mixed with sacred oils (holy oil used to anoint those about to
be baptized). This paste is used by the priest or the minister who
presides at the service to make the Sign of the Cross, first upon
his or her own forehead and then on those of the congregation.
While the ashes symbolize penance and contrition, they are also a
reminder that God is gracious and merciful to those who call on Him
with repentant hearts. His Divine mercy is of utmost importance
during the season of lent, and the Church calls on us to seek that
mercy during the entire season through reflection, prayer, penance
and good deeds.

should wash one anothers feet. Only those who have first allowed
Jesus to wash their own feet can then offer this service to others.
Only they
have a part with him (Jn 13:8) and thus can serve others.Lent is
a time for letting Christ serve us so that we in turn may become
more like him. This happens whenever we hear the word of God and
receive the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. There we become
what we receive: the Body of Christ. In this body there is no room
for the indifference which so often seems to possess our hearts.
For whoever is of Christ, belongs to one body, and in him we cannot
be indifferent to one another. If one part suffers, all the parts
suffer with it; if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy
(1 Cor 12:26).The Church is the communio sanctorum not only because
of her saints, but also because she is a communion in holy things:
the love of God revealed to us in Christ and all his gifts. In this
communion of saints, in this sharing in holy things, no one
possesses anything alone, but shares everything with others. And,
we can do something for those who are far distant; because with
them and for them, we ask God that all of us may be open to his
plan of salvation.

we only have to raise our eyes and pray for her aid. During these

announced the brewing of a storm. I immediately took hold of my

how Can We obtain healing?God has created within every man and
woman the desire to form lasting, loving, and meaningful
relationships with those around them, writes Rutherford. So, in
order to nurture healthy relationships in the future, how does one
obtain healing for a heart that has been broken by hurts from the
past? The answer is found in the book of James, which has been
called the most practical book of the Bible. If you were to imagine
that the book of James were a smartphone application, Rutherford
says there would be four important steps to downloading Gods app to
restore a broken heart:
1. surrender to the proper authorityGod is the Creator of the
universe. The Bible says He heals, restores, and gives life even to
relationships that seem dead and hopeless. The devil, on the other
hand, aims to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10). In every
decision you make, you are either submitting to God or to the
devil. James 4:7 says, Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the
devil and he will flee from you. How do you submit to God? By
obeying His word, the Bible. Make a commitment to read the Bible
every single day, even if its just one chapter. Pray and ask God to
help you to obey Him.
2. Confess and let goJames 4:8 says, Wash your hands, you
sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Take an honest
assessment of your heart and what role you may have had in the
demise of a certain relationship. First John 1:8-9 says, If we
claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not
in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will
forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. When
you confess your sin to God and ask Him for forgiveness, you are
able to forgive others and let go of resentment and bitterness you
may be harboring within your heart.
3. Dont slanderWhenever we are hurt, it is very tempting to
complain to anyone who will listen about the person we feel has
wronged us. James 4:11 admonishes us not to engage in this kind of
slanderous speech. Jesus Christ suffered the cruelest injustice in
all of history His undeserved death on a Roman cross but He did not
protest or slander His accusers. Instead, He said, Father, forgive
them (Luke 23:34). Let us follow Jesus humble example.4. Give grace
instead of judgmentWhen others fall short of your expectations,
choose to show them grace, which is defined as mercy, favor, and
pardon. Jesus showed you and I grace rather than judgment when He
died to pay the penalty for our sins. He says in Matthew 7:1-2: Do
not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge
others, you will be judged, and with measure you use, it will be
measured to you. Trust the Lord to examine the heart and motives of
those who may have hurt you, and leave all judgment to Him. You
will find that letting go of this responsibility is tremendously
liberating, and it will allow God to fully heal and restore your
heart.

minutes after my prayer, the wind and the rain became lesser and
continued to sub-side. Soon the storm stopped. Due to that
beautiful experience, I continued my fifteen mysteries twice daily;
one in the morning, and another, in the afternoon.Since I have to
stay home most of the time due to my age 87 years old, I spend most
of my time lifting my voice to God in prayer. I am thankful that
even in my wan-ing years my mind is still functioning well. My
livelihood now is writing pieces, decla-mation, oration, poems and
others. I have no vitamins. My maintenance is prayer. I am thankful
that my parents made me take my High School Education and Junior
nor-mal course, at the Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion in
Pototan, under the manage-ment of the Hijas de Jesus. The Spanish
Mothers required the praying of the Holy Rosary daily and other
devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary. They did not educate us only
intellectually, but, spiritually at most.Try praying much. Even if
we are busy doing something else, give God our time and ask Mother
Marys support. It would make us feel nearer to God the Father,
Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and our Blessed Mother, who are there
always present for us. Let us keep the light of Mama Marys Candle
burning in your heart.
