Tips for An Effective Resume

• Concise – limit to 3-4 pages

• Use action-oriented verbiage

• “Responsible for” or “Provided oversight” does not communicate action

• Avoid acronyms if possible or spell them out

• Use the CCAR approach

• Challenge – describe a challenge

• Context – provide information to understand the challenge

• Action – what action did you take

• Result – what was the result of your action

• Check and re-check spelling, etc.

• Get an independent review

• Develop an “elevator resume” to assist in marketing yourself
