  The West Mall area is west of Ross Street between City Hall and the Santa Ana Library. There is a low green tubular fence around this area right now.   The Lift Stations Project is in the Superblock parking lot at 6th Street and Flower Street entrance and Santa Ana Blvd. & Parton Street entrance. We are replacing the storm drain pumps that remove the rain water from the Superblock parking lot area.

When approaching individuals with behavioral health issues, it is important to first be aware of your own level of anxiety, fear, or anger. While ensuring your own personal safety is the first priority, remember that people with mental illnesses are more likely to be victims of violence rather than becoming violent. So try to stay calm and avoid nervous behavior. It is important to never force communication, and be aware that just because a person may be showing a limited range of emotions or having little verbal expression, doesn’t mean that he or she does not understand or is not feeling anything. Speaking slowly and confidently and using short, clear, direct sentences is helpful. Also, active listening is important, observing both verbal and non-verbal cues. This can help increase your awareness of what may irritate or worsen a person’s behavior. Finally maintain your own comfort zone, while respecting the personal space of others.
