These short-term missionaries will minister to street children, traumatized victims of war, and single mothers suffering with HIV/ Aids. There are still a few openings available on this team. The trip is scheduled for June 22 - July 6, 2008 and the estimated cost is $3,200. CHRISTMAS for the poorest of the poor Pack-A-Backpack Christmas Packs Through this yearís Rivermont Christmas Missions Project you have an opportunity to sh " Poorest of the Poor.î Just as the first Christmas Angels brought tidings of great joy to the mor e than 2,000 years ago, you can bring joy to the heart of a destitute and suf fering chil with Sports Outreach's " Christmas for the Poorest of the Poor" program to provide a wa loves you and so do I ... and I would like to pray for you, and give you this small gift.î It means more to these children than you can possibly imagine. Rivermont families have two di participate ... through the Christmas Packs ministry and SOI's Pack-A-Backpack progr am. You have the opportunity to fill backpacks with important basic supplies that will be hand delivered by our Mission Team (see below) to chil dr en in Uganda and Kenya. SOI ministers to thousands of childr en that only know life in refugee camps in these war tor n r egions of Uganda; they literally have nothing. SPORTS OUTREACH DESIRES TO HELP THESE CHILDREN and we need your help with this enormous undertaking! Each family can purchase items on this list to f ill a backpack and drop them off your items in the collection boxes in the Cheatham Center and the Fellowship Hall! Blanket Undergarments Everyday dress - girls Shorts/t-shirt - boys Sweater/sweatshirt Socks Hand sanitizer Toothpaste Soap Antiseptic cream Adhesive bandages With your faithful gifts and donations, SOI will be able to provide Kids Kits, Family Packs, and even Christmas parties for slum children. Using the coupon on the other side of this page, please consider making a donation to this worthy missions cause this Advent Season. Kidís Kits contain a pair of shoes, a set of clothes, a blanket , a toy, some candy, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap and a childrenís Bible. $25.00 provides one of these kits. Family Packs are filled with food including meat, beans, vegetables and other staples. There is enough food to feed a family of 8 for three weeks. A Family Pack can be provided for $30.00. Christmas Parties consist of a wonderful Christmas dinner topped off with a Christmas Cake and soda! Games are played, carols sungs, and the Christmas gospel is shared. These parties are made possible with just $15.00 per child.
