Do NOT Cut Zones
WARNING: Do NOT cut the fuel lines – cutting fuel lines will
releasehydrogen in the fuel lines.
Danger: Do NOT cut the orange high voltage cables. Cutting
thesecables can result in serious injury or death.

Hydrogen SensorsThere are a total of 7 hydrogen sensors on the
Equinox Fuel Cell.
Disabling Propulsion SystemA hood switch is mounted near thehood
latch and stops hydrogen flowif the hood of the vehicle is not
fullylatched. If the hood is opened while thevehicle is running,
high voltagecurrent flow will be disabled, andhydrogen flow through
the Fuel CellSystem will shut down.
Disabling PowerPerform each of the following steps todisable the
high and low voltageelectrical systems. This includespower to the
air bag system.1. Turn the ignition key to the OFF
position.2. Pull the hood release latch. This
interrupts the normal Fuel CellSystem shutdown procedure,
disconnects the high voltage powersupply, and stops hydrogen flow
to the propulsion system.
3. Remove the 12 volt battery cover and disconnect or cut the 12
voltnegative battery cable.
4. WAIT a minimum of 10 seconds to allow any undeployed air
bagreserve energy and high voltage energy to dissipate before
cuttinginto the vehicle.
High Voltage Electrical SystemThere are three sources of high
voltage power on the vehicle: thebattery, the fuel cell and the
regenerative braking system (the ElectricDrive Motor). Regenerative
power is not generated when the vehiclehas stopped moving. The high
voltage is shut off immediately when an air bag deploys, thehood is
opened or the rear crash sensor is activated. When the ignitionis
turned OFF, the fuel cell shuts down and its high voltage
powerdissipates within minutes.Disconnecting the 12 volt battery
removes power from undeployed airbags and provides a secondary
interruption of power from the highvoltage battery and fuel
cell.
WARNING: Even though high voltage current flow stops when
thepower is interrupted, do NOT cut the orange high voltage
cablesand/or the High Voltage Power Converter. If an orange cable
and/or the High Voltage Power Converter is cut, residual static
charge may cause an electrical arc discharge and/orpersonal
injury.
Caution: No matter what disablemethod you perform, do NOT cutthe
high voltage cables.
No Cut Zones• Hydrogen Tanks• Engine Compartment• Beneath the
Passenger Cabin Floor
Note: Disconnect the 12v Battery prior to cutting the rear roof
pillarand allow any undeployed airbag reserve energy to
dissipate.
After disabling 12 volt power, WAIT a minimum of 10 seconds
toallow any undeployed air bag reserve energy and high
voltageenergy to dissipate before cutting into the vehicle.
