1.0 INTRODUCTIONNow, in our society all over the world technology is the most important advancement, a necessity in bringing about the progress as we move along in this modernized world. This changes in effect make mans life easier and more convenient. The relationship between advanced gadgets and computer is constantly changing that the use of these innovations contributes to the way students learn in their institutions and universities. With the introduction of the computer to the public, people became aware that this device can be used to communicate, collaborate and interact with fellow users in ways they couldnt have imagined. Without leaving their chair, users can access and share vast amount of information collected from diverse places around the world. Computers had a significant impression on the students study habits and the instructors teaching methods. Therefore, adequate access to technology must be mandatory on modern schools. As modern devices such as tablet computers, gadgets , computers and laptops develop more of a presence in school system, it becomes more important for educators and students to understand the role of information technology in education today. New technology is not only a subject in and of itself, but can be applied to any subject, enhancing the learning experience and equipping students to join an increasingly global workforce."Computer Lab Management Software" refers to programs used by a teacher in the course of a lesson to maintain student attention and enhance instructional delivery. Cultural pundits have observed that on its face, technology can appear more on the side of "anarchy" than on the side of "control." This observation is validated in educational computer labs, where the level of teacher control over the learning environment is often different than in the traditional classroom. Open ended, constructivist investigations are desirable at times in instructional settings, including computer labs, but the anarchic nature of technology often manifests itself in school computer settings in less positive ways. Fryer W. (2003). In line with this, the proponents would like to explore the idea of developing a Laboratory Classroom File Management System by utilizing the features of Active Directory.Active Directory is a centralized and standardized system that automates network management of user data, security, and distributed resources, and enables interoperation with other directories. The proposed study will allow instructors to save their lessons in an active directory folder and can be easily downloaded by the students. This study will manage all the files of the computer users with the help of security permissions and policy. The proponents analysis provides an examination of its affordances and emerging pedagogic opportunities. The proposed study aims to enhance the current school technology of learning with a new paradigm shift in teaching using classroom file management system.

1.1 Project ContextNowadays, different universities and colleges use File Management System to easily administer files of the end users. Moreover, the proposed study will be used to maximize the usage of computers in accessing data. Systems Plus College Foundation is an educational institution committed to excellence and is one of the leading I.T Center for Development Schools in Pampanga that has been optimizing the power of technology to provide quality education. The proposed study will be integrated in Systems Plus College Foundation, Balibago, Angeles City. The school vision is to become a responsible, competitive and socially relevant institution of higher learning. It caters the different educational needs of the students by offering tertiary, primary, secondary, undergraduate and graduate courses. Furthermore, SPCF is equipped with cutting-edge academic / non-academic programs and impressive school facilities such as the school gym, library and technical laboratories. It provides hands-on training and Internet access to all students in modern and fully equipped laboratory classroom.Currently, SPCF is using NETSchool Laboratory Management System in their computer laboratories. Based from the interview conducted by the proponents to Mr. Marlon Tayag, MIS Director, stated that the said application is only a trial version. Wherein, some features are not activated due to license issues. Moreover, usage with the system is very limited. Thus, the proponents came up with the study entitled Computer Laboratory File Management System for Systems Plus College Foundation with the objective of helping the instructor to easily upload files and allow students to manage files through Active Directory function.1.2 Purpose and DescriptionThe proposed study will be implemented in the Computer Laboratories of Systems Plus College Foundation. The proponents conducted surveys, interviews and observation that helped and supported the proposed studys development and implementation. The study is intended for a fast and reliable classroom file management system. Additionally, it will help reach the schools mission, which is to develop and produce high-level and value-oriented graduates that are responsive to the needs of the country and ever-changing global environment. Through the implementation of this study, it will help progress the students and teachers computer literacy as well as improving and enhancing the proponents knowledge about technology. Also, the purpose of the proposed study is to have an easy access to learning contents and manage the files of the educators and students. The proposed study will be installed in the Computer Laboratories to optimize teaching and learning. Through the use of the system, all the client users will be able to connect to the server that will allow the teachers to organize their digital files. Integrated in an active directory, computers are set up to make organizing and saving files a simple and painless process. Currently, students save files to the hard drive of their computer in the laboratories, however some problems occur such as lost of files, copying of files due to open access to folders and cluttered desktop. With this, the proponents will create a system that will allow the users to save files onto the server, which is a hard drive on a separate computer that is specifically built for storing large volumes of files. The server is connected to every computer in the computer laboratory, so students will be able to get those files from any computer lab they use. Where in if students begin a project in the computer lab and need to finish the project, they will be able to find and work on those files with no problems if the files are on the server. Also, access to other files and folders will be limited through the use of login accounts. The proponents came up with the proposed study because of the rapid development of computers and technology. Moreover, people are increasingly using the aid of computers and networking in everyday living. Whereas, the proponents will use these technologies in the field of education to improve the way on how files are being managed.1.3 ObjectivesThe following are the general and specific objectives of the study that the proponents are expected to attain. The main objective of the proposed system is to design and develop a Computer Laboratory File Management System. Specifically, the proposed studys specific objectives are the following: To develop a module that will allow the instructors to upload course materials to the active directory of the server. To design a module that will enable the students to archieve their files by accessing their own Log in Accounts. To integrate a system that will allow the users to create records in a file structured way, which is simply a system for organizing files in a logical way. To create a module that will provide file management within a particular class for a specific instructor. To implement a system that will safely control the usage of the Computers by implementing File Policy Controls.1.4 Scope and Limitations1.4.1 Scope of the ResearchThe scope of this research is to design and develop a Remote Laboratory Management System.1.4.1.1 Accessing the serverThe proposed study will allow the users to access the server through the use of User ID and Password.1.4.1.2 Organize filesThe study will establish a strong and clear file structure to organize digital files in digital folders so that files would be easy to locate.1.4.1.3 Achieving of filesThrough the proposed studys file structure, it will give the students an organized, consistent place to save their files.1.4.1.4 Intranet Based StructureThe study will allow the students and teachers to access all of their work on the server so that they can access those files from any computer in the laboratory.

1.4.1.5 Active Directory SecurityThe proposed study will be made up of a set of users, and is created to assign permissions to access resources, and to assign user rights to group members. Permissions control access to resources, while user rights define what actions users can perform.1.4.2 Limitation of the studyThe proposed study will only be a file management system and will not be able to remotely control and monitor the student activity. The proposed system will only run in Windows Operating System. Users Files will only be saved every semester, therefore after each semester old files will be cleared out to maximize the server usage and storage.2.0 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURESThis section contains materials, summary, and excerpts of research and other literature which prove that the proposed solution of the researchers is deemed relevant to the conceptualization of the whole study.2.1 Foreign LiteraturesA file management system is any electronic system that organizes records in a logical and easily retrievable format. File management systems used to consist of drawers and cabinets full of paper, but today most systems are managed on computers using specialized software. There are a few standard styles and types of file management systems that serve slightly different purposes. (Oman, 2012)

Whether it is your computer's program files, word files or pictures and videos, each of your files should be categorized and put into the designated folder for easy and accessible use.(Martin K, http://www.ehow.com/facts_7183786_computer-file-management_.htmlIt's important that users manage and clean out their system's files periodically to optimize system performance. A company's senior executives might impose file management directives and policies to ensure that its employees handle electronic files and documents in a reasonable timeframe. These policies help boost operating system performance. (Codjia, M. 1999)

According to Moskowitz & Hayman (1976), once a teacher loses control of their classroom, it becomes increasingly more difficult for them to regain that control. Also, research from Berliner (1988) and Brophy & Good (1986) shows that the time a teacher has to take to correct misbehavior caused by poor classroom management skills results in a lower rate of academic engagement in the classroom. From the students perspective, effective classroom management involves clear communication of behavioral and academic expectations as well as a cooperative learning environment.Classroom management is closely linked to issues of motivation, discipline and respect. Methodologies remain a matter of passionate debate amongst teachers; approaches vary depending on the beliefs a teacher holds regarding educational psychology. A large part of traditional classroom management involves behavior modification, although many teachers see using behavioral approaches alone as overly simplistic. Many teachers establish rules and procedures at the beginning of the school year. According to Gootman (2008), rules give students concrete direction to ensure that our expectation becomes a reality. They also try to be consistent in enforcing these rules and procedures. Many would also argue for positive consequences when rules are followed, and negative consequences when rules are broken. There are newer perspectives on classroom management that attempt to be holistic. One example is affirmation teaching, which attempts to guide students toward success by helping them see how their effort pays off in the classroom. It relies upon creating an environment where students are successful as a result of their own efforts. By creating this type of environment, students are much more likely to want to do well. Ideally, this transforms a classroom into a community of well-behaved and self-directed learners. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classroom_management)According to Nemby, et.al. (1996), computer and internet serve as tools for the development of instructional procedures in universities and as well as assets for the delivery and management of institutions. Thus, they have become common tools in the educational process and continued to expand their capabilities in the society. As cited by Liuyuhau, (2008), Modeling and Implementation of Laboratory Teaching and Management Flat Based on .NET, With the development of the modern network of educational technology, research and the establishment of a comprehensive, effective, safe, professional laboratory teaching management platform, has in recent years become one of the hot issues of teaching workers concerned about how the network environment. Laboratoryteaching management platform combining teaching and management of the university's laboratory, can solve a series of problems has long been troubled by the laboratory teaching management personnel, the effective use of laboratory teaching resources, optimize the configuration and modern teaching management.2.2 Local LiteratureStated by Estopace E. (2001), Computer-equipped classrooms are now a dime a dozen and computer-aided instruction is fast becoming the norm in well-funded educational institutions. Information is exploding on the World Wide Web and technology is making almost everything possible. When mentors embrace e-learning, the whole university actually benefits. According to Bro. Miguel Rapatan, FSC, CREM's founder and director and an associate professor at the Department of Communication, the center's goal is really the improvement and enhancement of teaching.Rapatan says, "Teachers are now discovering that there is a special way of using technology for classroom learning and that actually it is now the preferred mode of learning for young people. Based on the feedback that our teachers are getting from the materials they've developed in class, students' response is very positive."In the Philippines, the De La Salle University-Manila (DLSU) is one of only two schools in the country that were granted a license to use the Integrated Virtual Learning Experience (IVLE), an online course management system developed by the National University of Singapore. Among other things, it provides the tools, resources and techniques for student-instructor communication, group interaction and interactive support. Estopace, E. (2001).As cited by Africa, C. (2012), The Philippines Leverages Desktop Virtualisation in E-Classrooms, More than 3000 public schools in the Philippines are now enjoying the learning and teaching benefits derived from the desktop virtualisation technology applied in many e-Classrooms, as part of the Department of Educations ComputerisationProgramme. The Computerisation programme is an initiative by the Government that aims to have public elementary and secondary schools nationwide use Information Communication Technologies (ICT) in teaching, learning, school management, andgovernance.

Filipino culture places a high value on education. For the majority of the Filipinos, the only best thing for a child to acquire and secure a better future is through education. So, they want more effective education system. E-Learning is still an emerging market in the Philippines. Its use is still sporadic and most users represent only a small segment of the Philippines education and business communities. Arimbuyutan R., et al (2007).According to Aligaen J. (2009), UNESCO believes that integrating ICT into education can help to bring quality education to everyone, everywhere a key goal of the Education for All initiative. The citizens of the future must be equipped with sufficient knowledge to keep up with technological advances and demands of the 21st Century. UNESCO also believes that recognizing innovative ICT in education practices can encourage and enhance even more educational innovations. With the support of the Japanese Fundsin-Trust, the Asia-Pacific Programme of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID) of UNESCO Bangkok implemented a project on Innovative Practices in ICT in Education to identify, document, share and multiply ICT in education innovations.2.3 Foreign Study2.3.1 Lab Management SoftwareThe following are the basic features of Lab Management Software: Screen Sharing: Making all computer screens in the room show the same image, usually the instructor's screen. - Blank Student Screens: This is invaluable for getting student attention and providing class instructions. The blank screens command causes all computers in the room except the instructor's to turn black (or another color) and sometimes display a message. - Remote Control: Depending on the instructional setting, this feature may have more "gee whiz" value than practical use, but many programs allow instructors to take remote control of a student's computer to demonstrate a task. - Unique Room Codes: Lab management programs, when initially setup on "client" (student) and instructor computers, permit a unique name or number to be assigned for the classroom where the computers are located.2.3.2 Apple Remote DesktopApple Macintosh Computers running operating systems 8.1 through the last version of OS X can be managed using Apple Remote Desktop software. Screen sharing, the ability to "blank" student computers, and monitor student screens is a simple, point and click process from the instructor computer interface. Advanced features like text chat, file copying to student hard drives, remote wake up from sleep, restart, and shut down are also available.Apple Remote Desktop includes other features not supported by Windows based management software, like changing certain system settings simultaneously on all computers. Installed applications on all computers can be "audited," allowing teachers or tech support staff to find and immediately delete unauthorized software on network computers. This can include mp3 song files downloaded by students and saved on local hard drives.2.3.3 NetOp SchoolNetOp School from CrossTec Corporation is also a Windows-based lab management software tool offering basic as well as advanced features. With a slightly more complicated installation procedure and user interface, it also offers more features for computer control than LanSchool. One notable feature is the ability to play (broadcast) MPEG, AVI, QuickTime or Flash 'movies' and animations to student computers during a teacher demonstration. Many other management programs do NOT allow this: the complexity and number of colors included in movies exceeds the software's ability to transmit and share data over the network.Another comparative advantage of NetOp School is its advanced interaction and collaboration features. Files can be distributed and collected to and from student computer hard drives, programs started automatically on all student computers, text and audio chat sessions initiated, and more. All lab computers can be simultaneously logged off the network, restarted, or shut down with a few clicks on the instructor computer. These features can be a dream come true for educators using Windows-based school computer labs.2.3.4 LanSchoolLanSchool, sold by the Intel Corporation, is a Windows-based lab management software tool with an extremely simple installation procedure and configuration interface. It provides only the basic features of lab management, including screen sharing, blanking student screens, and remote control, but does so in a user-friendly and efficient manner. After installing the "client" version on each student computer and installing the instructor version, a small icon is added to the instructor's system tray in the lower right corner. By right clicking the icon, the instructor can immediately share his/her screen, blank all student screens, or initiate a remote control session with another computer. Only client computers installed with the same, unique classroom code are controlled.2.3.5 Vision classroom management softwareVision offers tools for teaching that are easy to use, even for a first-time user. Classroom management has been proven to improve student achievement and it makes integrating technology in the classroom more intuitive - with a clean, simple toolbar that puts a rich variety of powerful tools in your hands.Vision is a personal classroom monitor. Keep an eye on everyone's work. Notice when someone's off task. Get everyone to the same place at the same time, so teacher can start the lesson. These are the tasks that good teaching depends on, but they take a lot of time and energy and class time is limited. That's where Vision comes in. Vision classroom computer management softwaremake the most of the teachers time when integrating technology in the classroom. It gives the tools needed to control sources of distraction, monitor student computers, get started without lost transition time and notice as soon as someone needs your help.Ignite interestCommunicate directly with the students, screen to screen. Whether the teacher is sharing what's on his screen with the class, demonstrating a new skill from the teachers PC to student smart devices,or working with someone one-on-one, Vision student management software gives you a variety of ways to bridge the gap between your. Focus AttentionToday, integrating school classroom management presents a challenge: how to focus your students' attention and keep them on task. Computer lab management and classroom managementwith Vision helps the teacher to do that, letting students access certain websites and applications while restricting others. Admin also have the ability to monitor student computers effortlessly, just to be sure.Improve gradesAccording to an independent study, Vision classroom management software makes a significant, measurable difference in student achievement when teaching with technology: it actually improved student grades by a full letter step. 2.3.6 Cooperative Lab ManagementLeveraging CLC's tools and infrastructure for managing student labs can provide an adaptive and secure environment while also reducing the ITstaff time required to manage departmental or campus labs. These technologies allow CLC to manage each workstation remotely, requiring CLC staff to typically touch the physical machine at most once per year. It also allows for a customized application software suite for each lab depending on the hardware and the location. Enhancements made to the process in 2005 made it feasible to extend the methods, processes, and infrastructure to support labs primarily run by other administrative departments. Also, various "homegrown" tools and our backend database have matured to the point that sharing the use of them became feasible, and the Cooperative Lab Management program was initiated.2.3.7 SynchronEyes Classroom Management SoftwareWith SynchronEyes software, teacher can manage the classroom, communicate with students and assist individuals, all without leaving computer. Using SynchronEyes software, teacher can monitor and control students using the Thumbnails view, which displays real time images of students desktops. Teacher can completely customize the appearance of this view. In addition to viewing the thumbnails, teacher can capture snapshots of a students screen, take control of a students desktop, place a temporary lock on your students computers, remotely shut down your students computers, block Internet access, block the use of specific applications and broadcast your desktop. Teacher can also use SynchronEyes software as a way to communicate with the class, a group of students or an individual student. Teacher can broadcast his desktop, conduct polls, send messages to your students and receive replies, send files to your students, distribute interactive quizzes, and more.

2.3.8 SMARTCLASS Computer Lab Management SolutionSmartClass systems use a hardware based screen & peripheral sharing infrastructure that guaranties excellent image quality for all content including motion video and high-defi nition graphics. 2.12 Powerteacher 2.0

PowerTeacher is a revolutionary, web-based classroom management system designed by teachers, for teachers. Since its launch, hundreds of thousands of teachers have made the switch to PowerTeacher, making it one of the fastest growing educational software products available today. On technologys cutting edge, PowerTeacher is an early example of a new category of software called the Rich Internet Application (RIA). RIAs are web applications that have the features and functions of traditional desktop applications, but run from a web browser and do not require software installation. Modeled after iTunes, PowerTeacher presents teachers with a clean design that layers advanced features beneath the surface. This makes PowerTeacher easier to learn and use than your average gradebook and maximizes end-user adoption.Offline capabilities PowerTeacher automatically switches into offline mode if the Internet or network connection goes down. Formative assessment Teachers can easily attach multiple outcomes to each students daily work, and assess proficiency on the fly with the new Outcomes Drawer. This creative approach streamlines workflow and helps teachers collect and report on a large body of evidence without requiring massive amounts of data. Summative assessment PowerTeacher includes flexible calculation options for determining each students current progress toward mastery for outcomes. This includes a surprisingly simple summative calculation option that allows the teacher or administrator to specify the number of recent scores to include in the calculation. Because PowerTeacher recalculates formative outcomes scores and grades instantly as data is being entered, teachers can present students with what if scenarios without impacting stored data. A one-click revert button instantly returns the grade book to its previous state.Pushing curriculum and content to teachers PowerTeacher has the ability to receive and organize content from curriculum directors and other school staff. Because this library of course-relevant content is easily accessible within the gradebook, more teachers are publishing content to parents and students more often.Individualized assessment Student Mode presents the teacher with a holistic view of the student and provides for quick entry of students outcomes scores. At the end of the term, all outcomes-based report cards will be automatically generated in the front office, saving classroom teachers a tremendous amount of time.2.3.13 Italic Intelligent Teaching and Learning with ComputersiTALC is a use and powerful didactical tool for teachers. It lets you view and control other computers in your network in several ways. It supports Linux and Windows XP, Vista and 7 and it even can be used transparently in mixed environments. iTALC has been designed for usage in school. Therefore it offers a lot of possibilities to teachers, such as see what's going on in computer-labs by usingoverview modeand make snapshots, remote control computersto support and help other people, show a demo(either in fullscreen or in a window) - the teacher's screen is shown on all student's computers in realtime, lock workstationsfor moving undivided attention to teacher, sendtext messagesto students, powering on/offand rebooting computers per remote, remote logon and logoff and remote execution of arbitrary commands/scripts, home schooling- iTALC's network-technology is not restricted to a subnet and therefore students at home can join lessons via VPN-connections just by installing iTALC client.2. 3.14 KnowledgeWEB System (for 21st Century Classrooms)TheKnowledgeWEBwill dramatically improve the teaching and learning environment in your classroom. Added to existing hardware, the KnowledgeWEB lets you control the functions of all monitors, keyboards and mice. It also provides the users with timely, acurate and relevant information.File management systems help eliminate clutter and give employees files a special spot. The benefit is that employees can sort, access and retrieve documents easily so that they spend less time searching for files and more time being productive.

In order to evaluate the proposed study from the previous studies, the proponents gathered and reviewed literatures and studies that are similar to the proposed game. Likewise, analyzing these materials made the proponents to come up a stronger background of the current study. Features of the researched classroom management software were deemed relevant to the proposed study. The proponents were able to gain insights from the authors of articles relating the proposed study. As stated by Berliner (1988) and Brophy & Good (1986), classroom management is important and difficult in the part of the lecturer. Through the implementation of the proposed study, it will help the teacher manage their class through controlling the students computer. Moreover, this technique will catch the attention of the students.Liuyuhau, (2008), also stated that classroom remote management system now a days are in demand. Currently, different schools and universities now use this technology and it helps solve problems in managing the class. This only means that the proposed study is feasible enough to develop since some campuses are already using this type of software. Additionally, the proposed study will also resolve some issues in classroom administration. Also according to Estopace E. (2001), Computer-equipped classrooms are now a dime a dozen and computer-aided instruction is fast becoming the norm in well-funded educational institutions. The proposed study will maximize the usage of the computers. With the proposed system, the whole college will benefit as well. All the researched local and foreign literature strengthen the main objective of the proposed study, which is to manage the class through a local area network based innovative system.Upon the proponents research, more related foreign and local studies were found that are comparable to the proposed study.
