Anger Management

Major Objective: The behavior that is associated with an

individual’s that struggles with their aggressive outburst,

associated with anger management. Looking at the history of and

the behavior will strongly help with the diagnosis and right

long-term treatment goals. Making sure the individual matches the

criteria of the DMS to be classified for helping client’s manage

their anger.

Key Points: The treatment plan helps the clients look for

different ways to channel their emotions. Looking at treating the

entire person, the counselor refers the client to their doctor

for a full examination before giving a therapeutic intervention.

This helps to rule out any medical conditions that may be the

root cause of the client’s anger issues. The goals looked at

different options clients have to let their emotions out in a way

that would not bring harm to others around them. Work with the

client to identify what triggers the onset of the anger outburst.

Come up with different ways the client can control their anger.

Look for ways the client can make their own list of things they

like to do that will help then channel their negative emotions

into something that will help them reach their therapeutic goals.

Reflection: I liked the fact that the treatment plan started with

identifying what the anger feel like to the client. Helping them

understand and look at the cause and meaning behind each of the

outburst of anger. I also thought it was important to develop a

professional relationship with the clients outside doctor, as

they work to identify if there are any health risks that are

associated with the client’s anger, as many things could be

behind anger.

Antisocial Behavior

Major Objectives: Clients that have the diagnosis of antisocial

behavior, often have difficulties with authority figures. Many

have gotten in trouble with the law and have been kicked out of a

number of academic and social events. Many clients that have

antisocial behavior have also abused drugs in the past and have a

history of arrest and or in counseling because the court system

has made required for them to do so. Many of them do not take

responsibility for their actions and place the blame on others as

a cause for their negative behavior.

Key Points: Help the client look at their behavior and learn how

to take responsibility for their actions and learn how to life

their lives according to the law. Looking at the destructive

behavior that has been associated with the breakdown of their

interpersonal relationship. Looking at that will help the client

to understand that their actions have a negative effect on those

around them. Confronting the client’s behavior and how their

negative behavior has an negative impact of the society which

they live in.

Reflections: I think the short-term objectives are interesting.

People that have this type of psychological disorder may have a

difficult time writing a list of ways they are able to do nice

things for others. I liked the intervention that is designed to

help the client to understand how their actions effects the way

others feel about themselves.

Anxiety

Major Objectives: Anxiety is a crippling disorder that makes

client worry about things that are beyond their control, and

things that does not pose an immediate physical treat to them or

their loved ones. In order for a client to be diagnosed with

anxiety, they must have these feelings for more than six months.

Their physical body may be marked with a lot of moving, motor

tensions that include, restlessness tiredness, shakiness, and

muscle tension. Hypervigilance, such as, feeling constantly on

edge, having trouble falling or staying asleep and irritability.

Key Points: The main goal for treatment is to help the client

reduce the intensity of their anxiety in order for the client to

live a like that is not interrupted by the anxiety. Getting the

client to talk about their past experiences with feelings of

anxiety and the impact it has had on their day to day

functioning. Having a good anxiety inventory to measure the

severity of the client’s anxiety symptoms, and how to assess the

treatment plan for the treatment inventory. Looking at the

different medications the client may be on and investigate the

different side effects that are associated with each. Certain

medications can cause client to have unpleasant symptoms of

anxiety.

Reflections: Looking at the different causes of anxiety is very

important when doing a treatment plan for a client that suffers

from anxiety. I learned that certain medication side effects

could cause people that would not otherwise have anxiety to

develop it with the ongoing treatment. I think that it is also

very important for the client to take an anxiety inventory so

that they and the counselor would know where to start with their

treatment intervention.
