Easter is the anchor of our faith,” says Pastor Tim Rice. “We celebrate ‘the
gift,’ the birth of Jesus, that was given to us at Christmas and that is great; but the truth is if it weren’t for the resurrection of Christ all that we would have another dead religion on our hands.”
“What Jesus has to offer comes from the inside out. Jesus did not come to merely set us free on the outside. He came to set us free from the inside out.”
“That is where the confusion came from during the days between Palm Sunday and Resurrection Sunday. The people could not grasp what Jesus was about to do on behalf of people. The week between Palm Sunday and the Good Friday was a fulcrum, it was a week that eternity hung in the bal-ance, and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the hinge, or a change—transition for all humanity. The people in Jerusalem had no idea what was about to take place.
“The crowds were crying out for a particular kind of political liberation
that would appear on the spot. They wanted someone to deliver them from the external circumstances that they found themselves in.”
“But Jesus had another idea in mind of what made peace; what made liberation and redemption. The real enemy was not Romans or Greeks, or foreigners. The real enemy lurked within the hearts of every fallen person—it is called sin. And Jesus was preparing to do battle, not with Rome but with Satan, not to set the children of Israel free from political bondage, but to set humanity free from the bondage and the effects of sin. That is what Jesus did on our behalf.”
“This week changed history. We no longer have to wait for a helper, wait for a deliv-erer; that help and hope has come! We are now free!”
“
