Serve God at Calvary Following our sermon series on the Three Simple Rules, to do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God, consider how YOU might serve God at Calvary during the Christmas eve weekend. We will have worship at 8:30 and 11:00 on Sunday, December 23, as well as a Live Nativity from 9:30am-12:30pm. On Monday, December 24, there will be three worship services: at 11am for our youngest folks and their families, at 5pm with a pick-up pageant, and at 8pm with the choir, candles, and communion. All of these worship events give us, worshippers at Calvary, an opportunity to share God with our community. If you would like an opportunity to light advent candles during the season, usher, greet, or serve snacks, please contact Beth at [email protected] to sign up. Training and materials are provided!

Chirilagua Christmas / Angel Trees Come Celebrate, and Make a Difference On Saturday, December 15 at 5pm, folks from Arlandria / Chirilagua will come to Calvary (if you help give them rides!) and enjoy food, crafts and worship (if we help organize.) Angel tree names and bags for food given will be available at the Advent workshop on November 25. Sign up for helping on the 15th is on our website (www.calmeth.org). Consider how you can make Christmas special for these families this year. For more information about the event, or volunteering: [email protected]

Music Makers! Thanks to Amy McCarthy for a wonderful music class for parents and children! Our new gathering drum was a hit! (hahaha) Each week, following the 8:30 worship service, Amy offers music class to our Sunday school kids under 2nd grade. No reservations are required, no fees. Mickey Fuson also

offers choir to our 2nd graders and up at 9:30, and after church at 11:00,

Mickey leads older kids in the youth bell choir! Music has an amazing effect on our brains (there is a link about brains and music-on our website). For information contact Mickey at [email protected] or Amy at [email protected]

Calvary Has a Choir for You A Meaningful Way to Participate in Worship The chancel choir has begun to rehearse music for Advent, Christmas, and for Choir Sunday on Sunday, December 16. If you would like to participate, or have questions, please contact Mickey Fuson at [email protected].

Have something to post in Calmeth News? Deadline is THURSDAY 12 noon to submit your articles or announcements, please contact us by email: [email protected]. Due to space restrictions, we can only publish a limited number of articles. Articles or announcements that are lengthy may be edited. Thank you for keeping our family and friends up-to-date.

Learning For All Ages Sunday Morning—Walk-ins Welcome!

For Adults Classroom 1 will continue For All the Saints, and Classroom 2 will continue Simply Christian by N.T. Wright

For Children Ministry begins at 8:30am worship with lessons and community building and continues through the 11am hour. We gather in the preschool building for stories, friends, and learning about Jesus. Music for children includes a Young Music time for those under 2nd grade (in the Preschool area) and Children’s Choir (2nd grade and up) in Memorial Hall, at 9:30am.

On-Line Group The on-line book group has begun Richard Rohr’s book Breathing Under Water, Spirituality and the 12 Steps. The format for this group is to receive an e-mail once a week with a thought or question for the chapter for that week. Folks respond (or read and reply) as they feel led. For information, please contact Beth Posey at [email protected]. Praying Wives Each day a blind e-mail is sent to help us remember to put God in our marriages as we begin the day. If you would like to join this group, contact Beth at [email protected]

Clothing Swap a Success! Thanks to Jeanne’ Havermans and her team for an amazing Clothing Exchange! Folks from all over came and brought items they could no longer use, and took what they needed! Jeanne’ put signs in our neighborhood, as well as nearby Chirilagua. She also contacted the social workers at local school to share information on the exchange! Sadly, she is ready to hand over coordination of this volunteer opportunity. If you are interested, please e-mail [email protected]. Generally, the Clothing Exchange has been held in the fall (potentially Fall, 2019!)
