God wants to speak to you.

Listen to Him and do

what He says.

Young Samuel lived in the tabernacle (place of worship) and served God there.

• Do you remember the promise Hannah made to God if He would give her a son?

• When God answered Hannah’s prayer, what did Hannah do with Samuel?

God wanted to speak a message to His people.

• While Samuel was lying down at night Who called to him?

• Did Samuel know that it was God speaking to Him? Who did Samuel think had called him?

• What did Samuel do? When Eli knew it was God calling, what did he tell Samuel to do?

God called to Samuel a fourth time.

• What did Samuel say when God called to him again?

• Did God speak to Samuel? Did Samuel listen to God?

Eli the priest had sons who did evil and did not obey God.

• In the morning Samuel gave the sad message to Eli that God was going to punish his sons. Is it

important for us to obey and love God?

Samuel grew older and God spoke to him again and again.

• What can we learn from this story of Samuel? (You can love and serve God when you are young. God

can speak to you when you are young. You can learn to hear God’s voice too.)

UNDERSTANDING THE STORY:

SIMPLE TRUTHS:

“Now the LORD came and stood and

called as at other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’

And Samuel answered, ‘Speak, for Your

servant hears.’” 1 Samuel 3:10

AND REMEMBER... MEMORY VERSE:

Just like Samuel served God in the tabernacle, you can also serve God where you are.

• God had special jobs for Samuel to do. Does God have special things for you to do too?

• What are some things you can do to please God and bless the people around you?

God loves people and still wants to speak to them today.

• Does God want to speak to you and to me?

• How does God speak to us today? (He speaks to us through the Bible. Even if we don’t hear God’s

voice, we know that He talks to us in the Bible.)

• Is it important to be listening to the words in the Bible so that we can know what God wants to tell us?

At first Samuel did not know it was God speaking to him; he thought it was Eli.• Just like we learn to know a person’s voice, we also must learn to know when it is God speaking to us.

Is it important to practice hearing from God?

• If we listen to the Bible, are we going to learn to hear God speak to us through the words in the Bible?

• Can you start listening to God right now, at your age? Let’s pray and tell God that we always want to

hear His voice, for our whole life.
