CAADP – Not a “Programme” per se

Rather, a Pan-African Framework – A set of principles and targets collectively defined at all levels to:

– Guide country strategies and investment programmes

– Allow regional peer learning and review

– Facilitate alignment and harmonization of development effort

How will FARA support CAADP KIS

• FARA has become a stronger organization, better able to fulfill its role as the apex organization for African ARD

• FARA’s knowledge support to CAADP KIS is to ensure that the country process benefits from:

• Human and institutional capacity it needs

• Advocacy and communication to enable policy makers have the evidence-based information they need to formulate enabling policies

• Partnerships to enable constituents have access to the knowledge, information and skills they need to effectively plan and implement CAADP interventions

How will FARA support CAADP KIS

• FARA’s knowledge support to CAADP KIS would be to:

• Determine outcomes through observation, foresight, strategic analyses, partnerships, catalysing appropriate responses

• Creating and filling capacity needs by connecting, integrating and educating

• Enabling implementation through advocacy and communication to generate enabling policies and ensure that they get the stakeholder support required for implementation

CAADP is a Pan-African Framework that defines a set of principles and targets to guide country strategies and investment programmes

Countries are encouraged to adopt the CAADP framework if they are to increase agricultural productivity, access markets, reduce food insecurity, create wealth and income and reduce poverty

FARA is ready to deliver knowledge and skills to support the CAADP country process
