WHAT IS BUSINESS ETIQUETTE?

Business etiquette is the set of written or written or

unwritten rules of conduct that facilitate interaction

between people in the work place in the work world by

setting standards for appearance and behavior.

HOW TO MAKE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION

Be confident

Proper posture is imperative

Smile

Dress appropriately

Have a sense of humor

Remember the name of the person you meet

Arrive to the meeting on time

Come prepared with pen and paper

Demonstrate interest in the subject using

body language

Turn off cell phones and laptops

Do not interrupt the speaker instead you say “ a quick

Give a professional greeting and identify yourself

Be genuinely polite and respectful in your tone

Be clear and precise

Say “please” when appropriate

HANDSHAKE ETIQUETTE

Know when to initiate the hand

Stand and look the other person in the eye with a

smile

Your handshake should be firm and not crushing

The handshake should be approximately two to five

seconds in duration

Beware of the other hand

Shake hands in an up-down motion
