unwritten rules of conduct that facilitate interaction
between people in the work place in the work world by
setting standards for appearance and behavior.

Turn off cell phones and laptops
Do not interrupt the speaker instead you say “ a quick

Give a professional greeting and identify yourself
Be genuinely polite and respectful in your tone
Be clear and precise
Say “please” when appropriate
End on a positive note e.g. Have a nice day sir! ,

HANDSHAKE ETIQUETTE
Know when to initiate the hand
Stand and look the other person in the eye with a
smile
Your handshake should be firm and not crushing
The handshake should be approximately two to five
seconds in duration
Beware of the other hand
Shake hands in an up-down motion

Do not ask for business cards in front of people.
Ask privately and one-on-one
Read the business cards for about a minute
