Built for defense The Eltz Castle had a river running around three sides of the castle and mountains on the other. So that made it super hard to attack. It was also built on a hill.

Eltz castle historyThere were three branches of the Eltz family the Kempanich, Rubanach, and Redendorf. They had to combine their money to build the Eltz Castle .

Castle floor planThey had the floor plan so the three brothers each had a fortified living quarters.

armoryThe armory was used for holding amour and weapons such as the sword ,war flail or flail ,javalin , battle axe ,axe ,and long sword.

The eltz familyThe Eltz family got its name from the Elz river.
