bullOver the past two years the average annual gas usage at 3001 Stamford Square has decreased 53 since the installation of new high-efficiency condensing gas boilers mdash the equivalent reduction of 294 barrels of oil
bullCompleted a second-round LED retrofit in 3001 Stamford Squarersquos parking garage stairwells and breezeways mdash Eversourcersquos first in the state of CT mdash saving an estimated 33910 kWh annually the equivalent of 58630 miles driven by an average passenger car
bullNyala Farms an Ashforth-managed property began installation of electric vehicle chargers
bullAshforth began setting up a portfolio-wide digital archiving system which will significantly reduce paper usage
bullThe Stamford 2030 District of which Ashforth is a founding member and is co-chaired by an Ashforth EVP expanded its boundaries in 2018 encompassing over 100 buildings and 12 million square feet with an estimated reduction of over 43000 metric tons of CO2
Ashforth has been tracking its utility performance since 2008 Each year wersquove seen consistent improvement from continued efforts such as replacing and optimizing building systems amp equipment and adding eco-friendly amenities A national trend of increased densityemployment count has caused measurable increases in utility usage In addition numerous factors such as weather tenant type and occupancy affect usage However through all variables Ashforthrsquos ongoing sustainability improvements and efforts have enabled us to keep increases to a minimum and during the past year to reduce overall energy costs

bullAshforth introduced a new Farm-to-Office online produce service Field Goods with direct
delivery to several owned properties Fruit amp vegetable bag subscriptions as well as agrave la carte local produce items from over 60 small farms and producers are offered
bullAshforth continued its five-year-running Farm Shares at Work program at three owned buildings In 2018 33 participants ordered weekly CSA shares full of fresh farm products during the summer and fall seasons from a local CT farm

In Ashforthrsquos fourth year analyzing our three owned CT buildings we recycled 104 tons of cardboard office paper bottles cans and plastic (an equivalent savings of 3842 gallons of oil) while sending 311 tons of garbage to landfill ndash 251 of total waste diverted a decrease of 81 from 2017
A higher number is better The decrease in waste diversion over the past two years appears to be due to a reduction in paper use ndash a positive Ashforth has been tracking its waste diversion and e-waste recycling since 2015 Annual fluctuation is typical and related to volume of capital projects and tenantsrsquo improvements

bullIn 2018 100 of Future 5rsquos high school seniors graduated with 36 going on to attend four-year colleges and 19 going on to attend two-year colleges Founded in 2009 Future 5 has served 500+ students and overall has a 98 high school graduation rate
bullAshforth encourages volunteerism to nearly 7500 employees in 200 companies at our owned and managed buildings by organizing numerous community-oriented events
bull3000+ hours of volunteer time by employees chairing or participating on nonprofit committees
bull3 employees volunteered to fly the Bob the Builder balloon for the Stamford Downtown Special Services Districtrsquos annual Thanksgiving Parade Spectacular
bull7 employees donated several new school outfits sneakers fall and winter jackets and backpacks filled with school supplies to two children who attend Roxbury School and Stillmeadow School in Stamford
bullHeld building-wide drives at ownedmanaged properties and collected over 450 gifts and nearly 100 dresses shoes and accessories for the Handled with Care boutique and Gift of Giving drive benefitting Kids Helping Kids
