• Worked as a professional videographer for NatMarie Photography.

• This is my first year at Miami Arts Studio• I am really excited to be teaching you and to

WHY?

Why is this important Mr. Rodriguez?

Every aspect of broadcasting is essential. If we, as an audience, do not understand what we are looking at on the screen, then why should we care?

That is why it is important for the anchor, the director, the cameraman/woman, the editor, etc. to truly care about what is being presented to an audience.

Grading Policy:I will grade on a 4-point scaleA= 3.5-4.0B= 2.5-3.49C= 1.5-2.49D= 60-69F-= below 0.99Failure to complete any assignment will result in a “Z”, which is worth two F’s.

Conduct

• Respect is my No. 1 criteria within this classroom. – Respect opens the door to productive teamwork and collaboration.

• Students caught misbehaving and becoming off-task will receive a warning. If the misbehavior continues, a parent/guardian will be contacted.

Homework

• Homework will usually apply if students need to complete a task begun in class. If an assignment has a deadline, then it must be turned in by that deadline.

• Make sure to stay in contact with your team if you’ve been delegated a specific role.

Materials

-1 Composition notebook-½ inch binder (portfolio)-Loose leaf notebook paper-Black or blue pens-Red pen-Pack of colored pencils-Highlighter-#2 pencil-Sharpener-USB Drive: 4 or 8 GB (preferably 8 GB for the sake of saving exported video files)-SD Card (labeled with your name)-Personal Headphones

Respect your classroom.

• You will take care of all materials and equipment used in class and/or studio.

• You will make sure to check out any equipment that does not belong to you.

• Camera equipment has multiple components. Please ensure that everything is allocated where it should be to avoid pieces going missing.

• You will keep the classroom clean and organized.• You classroom is a learning environment. There will not be

personal grooming or applying of make-up.

No cell phones, MP3 players, or handheld video games.

• Any cell phone, or electronic device used in the classroom will be taken away and your Parent/Guardian will have to come to the school to retrieve it.

No gum or food in the classroom.

• Food and drinks are to be consumed only in the cafeteria.

• The only exception will be any special treats for good behavior given by the teacher.

Consequences of Rule-Breaking

Broadcasting Magnet Eligibility

• You must be in good academic standing to stay in the Broadcasting program. A failing grade will result in your withdrawal from the program.

• Fees: The Classroom fee for Broadcasting is $35.00– Collection will take place starting Tuesday,

September 8th.

Magnet Open House

• The Broadcasting Magnet Open House will take place on Thursday, August 27th in the Media Center @ 6:30 pm.

• Social Media Manager (in charge of updating Instagram, Twitter, and [occasionally] Youtube)
