As we begin our MISSION this year, all things become POSSIBLE! A note for you: I hope everyone had a restful and joy-filled break! I wanted to take a moment to expand on our previous discussion regarding digital platforms and how they work. We do use a number of these platforms across all grade levels, for various reasons. We spoke about I- Station and how it can help your child improve their Reading, Math, and Spanish skills. Here are two more that are excellent resources to help your child improve their skills: 1. Achieve3000: With game-based foundational literacy learning, proven-effective differentiated literacy instruction, and a curriculum platform designed to deepen thinking, Achieve helps our students become better learners on their own time, in their own way. The program accelerates as quickly or as slowly as the student needs. It is a wonderful diagnostic tool as well, since it is aligned to State Standards which give us excellent data points for determining learning growth. https://www.achieve3000.com/ 2. Khan Academy: Their library of trusted, standards- aligned practice and lessons covers math K-12 through early college, grammar, science, history, AP®, SAT®, and more. It’s all free for learners and teachers. This resource utilizes youtube style videos with lessons taught by actual teachers, to help prepare students for multiple subject area lessons. Because the videos are on-demand, your student has the ability to pause, rewind, and reflect on the current portion before moving on to the next part of the lesson. https://www.khanacademy.org/ Character Trait of the Month: Pursuit of Excellence

A Note from AdministrationWelcome back, BPA Riverview families! As we
begin our MISSION this year, all things become
POSSIBLE! A note for you:
I hope everyone had a restful and joy-filled break! I
wanted to take a moment to expand on our previous
discussion regarding digital platforms and how they
work.
We do use a number of these platforms across all
grade levels, for various reasons. We spoke about I-
Station and how it can help your child improve their
Reading, Math, and Spanish skills. Here are two
more that are excellent resources to help your child
To ALL BPA Riverview Families:As you know, we are a multi-cultural school. Many of our wonderful staff are from Puerto Rico and have family still living there.
Over the last few days, Puerto Rico was hit with multiple high-magnitude earthquakes that devastated the already hurting country.
Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States that is only 100 miles long by 35 miles wide.Puerto Ricans have been citizens of the United States since 1917, and can move freely between the island and the mainland.
<---Punta Ventana, before and after.
Most of our families (of BPA Staff) are doing fine; some that live in the southern part have been affected. The southern part of the island suffered the most damage. There are currently people who have no place to live or sleep. They have no water, no electricity. Schools and other buildings have collapsed. Many have had to move to other towns with their families or go to a refuge.
A goFundme has been started by our very own Mrs. DeJesus. She is hoping to collect some money and send it to her cousin’s non-profit organization. This organization, The Rogue United, formed right after Hurricane Maria and they use the funds to provide water, medical supplies, medical services, psychological services, food, gift cards and other items to the people affected by natural disasters. Receipts and pictures can be provided as proof of your donation being used.If you’re interested in donating, please visit the following linkhttps://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-earthquake-victims-puerto-rico?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1Any help will be greatly appreciated.
** The staff (Teachers, Administration, Custodial, etc.) all appreciate any help you are willing to give, whether it be through the link above or another resource. They also appreciate any prayers, thoughts, or otherwise for the entire commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts and any help you feel comfortable offering. ~~ The Entire BridgePrep Staff, Administration, and Faculty.
I Have A Dream......
Each year on the third Monday of January,America honors the birth, life, and dreamof Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
It is a time to remember the injustices that Dr. King fought. A time to remember his fight for the freedom, equality, and dignity of all races and peoples through nonviolence.(from https://www.officeholidays.com/holidays/usa/martin-luther-king-jr-day)https://www.archives.gov/files/press/exhibits/dream-speech.pdfhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smEqnnklfYs
