BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

The Youth Development Services department serves approximately 5,000 youth daily and encompasses six sub-divisions or special initiatives: Club Branches, Elementary School Site Programs, Teen Services, Academic Services, Sports Programs, and Hope & Opportunity through Performing and Entertaining (HOPE).

The Youth Development Leadership team ensures all programs offer enriching and impactful programs, have highly qualified and trained staff, are in compliance with local, state, and federal standards, and are meeting the community needs. Moreover, the team collaborates regularly with community partners to bring additional resources to our Clubs and School Site programs, such as: Garden Grove Unified School District, Orange County Department of Education, California Department of Education (CDE), CalSAC, OC STEM, California Afterschool Network (CAN), other local Boys & Girls Clubs, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Club Branches: Main Branch, Edgar Branch, Stanford Branch, Patton Branch, and Clinton Branch. These sites serve more than 600 youth (5-17 years old) every day, from as early as 7:00 a.m. until as late as 6:30 p.m. During the summer and school holidays, most children are with us at least 10 hours each day. These sites are open to anyone who lives, works, or travels to the area. Contact individual sites for monthly membership tuition.

After School Programs on School Campuses: We have 39 elementary After School Education and Safety (ASES) Programs, 9 Intermediate School Programs, and 4 High School Programs located on school campuses throughout the Garden Grove Unified School District. Programs are open only on school days, Monday through Friday from school dismissal until 6:00pm. Students (3rd grade & up) must be enrolled at the school to be referred to the program. These programs are implemented in collaboration with Garden Grove Unified School District.

Sports Programs: Our comprehensive sports program offers participation in more than six sports, including flag football, boys and girls volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, and dodgeball. These organized sports leagues are offered year-round with each season scheduled for several months. Aimed at building fundamental skills, promoting teamwork, and good sportsmanship, students at all levels are encouraged to participate. Transportation is provided for players to compete against other local sports teams.

Performing Arts: HOPE STUDIOS provides exceptionally talented teens with the tools and resources needed to learn, understand, and excute the best practices for the emerging independent artist. The goal is to teach our youth the importance of hard work, dedicatioin, innovation, and communication. The creative space is designed to ignite the flame that will drive our members into a successful career as independent artists; to educate on all of the different opportunities there are in the industry, and to give them hope that it is an attainable career. HOPE invests in the creative talents of our young people, to build character and leadership skills, public speaking and stage presence, as well as practical skills in the areas of technology and computer science.
