ART BABSON COLLEGE
Points of View. Hollister Gallery On display until January 21, 2011 Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:00 am-7:00 pm
Dana Clancy’s artwork is about the rituals associated with traveling and looking, with places
that are specifically set up as viewing spaces. The artist is interested in the way we use
photography to remember and communicate a visual experience. She only paints places
that she has experienced in person and works from multiple photographs to create a
complex composite image whose geometric edges draw attention to the touch of the artist
and reference the immersive sometimes overwhelming experience of being in these
particular environments.
The paintings on view at Babson are an expansion of her series exploring people’s
interaction with art and architecture in museums. Clancy has used her finely tuned sense of
color and form to re-frame spaces within the Guggenheim, MOMA, Tate, and Mass MOCA,

to make paintings that speak to the intensity and alteration of memory.
In “Points of View” she has made a new series of shaped paintings based on Anish Kapoor’s
sculpture Cloud Gate and the Renzo Piano addition to the Art Institute of Chicago. Taking
her geometric perspective explorations into three dimensions through the use of
architectural model board as a painting surface allows Clancy to create intimate sculptural
paintings whose lines, shapes, and silver surfaces change as the viewer moves.
Dana Clancy is a painter and assistant professor at Boston University's School of Visual Arts.
She received a BA in English Literature from Vassar College and an MFA in Painting from
Boston University.
Ms. Clancy has exhibited her work in solo exhibitions at Boston University, the Danforth Museum of Art, the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center, and Laconia Gallery in Boston's South End. She has been included in group exhibitions nationally, including Delta Axis at Marshall Arts, Memphis, and Bowery Gallery, New York.

Wellesley College Theater Studies 203 Class is proud to present Through the Looking Glass created by the Alice production team. The only performance will be on Sunday, December 12 at 5pm and 7pm in the Ruth Nagel Jones black box theater.
Conceptualized by the Alice production team, this hour long play explores the theme of wildly passionate women from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Henrik Ibsen’s The Doll House, August Strinberg’s Miss Julie, and Tony Kushner’s Angels in America, who
are all tied together through the adventures of Lewis Carrol’s Alice as she ventures through the looking glass and into new worlds. Alice views scenes from these plays and sees women in love, lust, heart-ache, and confusion as they fight for their independence, their lovers and their sanity. The Alice production team integrated these scenes with ones from Carrol’s Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There novel, mirroring Alice’s own struggle in the world beyond the looking glass. The play is set in the time and place intended by the original author of the various texts, so time, place and space shift throughout the show.
Performed by Wellesley, Babson and Olin college students; directed by Alexa Keegan, Wellesley ‘14; stage managed by Elizabeth Berdoff, Wellesley ‘14, light and sound designed by Micalea Palermo, Wellesley ’14; costume and prop designed by Madeline Buckley, Wellesley ’14, and produced by Amanda Greenslet, Babson ’12. Performances Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 5 and 7 pm.

FILM BABSON COLLEGE
thursday, dec 9.
Green Tower Movie Night: Flow. 8pm. Reynolds Back Dining Room
Irena Salina's award-winning documentary investigation into what experts label the most important
political and environmental issue of the 21st Century - The World Water Crisis.
Salina builds a case against the growing privatization of the world's dwindling fresh water supply
with an unflinching focus on politics, pollution, human rights, and the emergence of a domineering
world water cartel.
Interviews with scientists and activists intelligently reveal the rapidly building crisis, at both the
global and human scale, and the film introduces many of the governmental and corporate culprits
behind the water grab, while begging the question "CAN ANYONE REALLY OWN WATER?"
Beyond identifying the problem, FLOW also gives viewers a look at the people and institutions
providing practical solutions to the water crisis and those developing new technologies, which are
fast becoming blueprints for a successful global and economic turnaround. Chi Omega Movie Night: Elf. 5:30pm. Keith D
