BLUE JAY corner Hannah Mace, Shelbie Gaines, Jackie Bradley, and Jade Lemmon paint pumpkins at the FBLA lock-in. “I really enjoyed doing crafts during the lock-in because I wouldn’t have time to do fall crafts any other time. I had lots of fun with my pals.” Jade said. The FBLA lock-in was held on Friday October 9th. This was the first year the FBLA has done this. Caption by Kaleigh Farmer The Rock Port High School volleyball team hosted a pink out game in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The volley- ball girls wore pink to support breast cancer. The north wall of the high school gymnasium was covered with papers written on by both jr. high and high school volleyball girls. Many of the girls played in honor of or in memory of family members or close friends who have or did have cancer. Before the varsity volleyball game fans bid on many items in an auction in honor of Mrs. Emily Zech. Emily Zech was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Mrs. Zech is a second grade teacher at Calvert Elementary School in Auburn, Neb. Emily has a four month old son and grandparents who live in Rock Port. FCCLA raised three hundred dollars from pink out sales and the auction. The money was donated to Mrs. Emily Zech. Sponsors who donated for the auction include Jennifer Vogler, Jonnie Kemerling, Amy Skillen, Lisa Farmer (A Perfect 10), Rock Port FCCLA, and Jennifer Kelly (Scentsy). In addition to the pink-out items and auction proceeds, Rock Port R-II donated the gate proceeds, two hundred dollars to Emily.
