Introduction: Getting Wisdom

a) Knowledge is what you know.

b) Wisdom is what you are in the light of what you know.

• Ephesians 1:17: I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.

Chapter 1: Jesus Taught

Following Jesus

We need to abide in Him, but first of all we have to be grafted into Him and this involves the following.

Revelation

Illumination

Appropriation

Once this takes place we will see the following.

Transformation (Character)

Persecution

Page 4: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

How do we abide in Him?

John 15:4-8.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.

Page 5: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

We retain God’s Word by obeying it.

John 15:7.

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it willbe done for you.

The use it or lose it principle.

Mark 4:23-25.

He who has ears to hear let him hear. Consider carefully what you hear, with the measure you use it will be given to you

and even more. He who hears will be given more, he who does not hear even that which he has will be taken away.

Page 6: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

The Bible is a direct revelation from God.

• 2 Tim 3:16.All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

• 2 Peter 1:20-21.

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Page 7: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Revelation.

The greatest revelation of God to man is the Bible.

1Corinthians 6:1. Paul speaks of the Apostles as “Stewards of the mysteries of God.”

But Revelation is not enough, even Satan knows Scripture

When he tempted Jesus, Satan said “it is written” yet Satan was taken by surprise by what happened at Calvary.

Page 8: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

God’s Revelation to man.1Corinthians 2:6-8.

We do however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature…

None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Satan thought he could outsmart God, others have been deceived to think the same.

Page 9: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Revelation is not enough for Salvation.Ephesians 3:8-10.

This grace was given to me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.

His intent was that now, through the Church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.

Satan now knows the gospel, but

Revelation is not enough

Page 10: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Illumination.

Beyond the pages of the Bible is God himself, this is not a rule book, but God revealing Himself.

1 Corinthians 2:11-16.

We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. …..

The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually discerned……

Page 11: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Illumination.

Mark 4:11-12.

The secret of the Kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding

Page 12: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Illumination.

Mark 4:21-25.Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead don’t you put it on it stand? For what is hidden is meant to be disclosed and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought into the open. If anyone has ears to hear , let him hear. Consider carefully what you hear, he continued. With the measure you use, it will be measured to you and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

Page 13: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Illumination.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4&6.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ….

For God who said “Let the light shine out of darkness,” has made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Page 14: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Illumination is not enough.

The purpose of the Written Word, is to make the Living Word a reality

• 2 Peter 1 :19.

And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

• John 3:19.

This is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, but men preferred the darkness to the light because their deeds were evil.

Page 15: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Our response to The Bible: There has to be Appropriation.

• Romans 10:8-10.

The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is the word of faith we are proclaiming.

That if you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Page 16: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

• John 12:42,43.

Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him.

But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the Synagogue for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.

Revelation: Jesus is “A Saviour.”

Illumination: Jesus is “The Saviour.”

Appropriation: Jesus is “My Saviour.”

Our response to The Bible: There has to be Appropriation.

Page 17: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Character . Appropriation.

Our relationship with God must affect our character.

Transformation.

2 Corinthians 5:17.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation

has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Page 18: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Appropriation.John 12:42,43.

Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the Synagogue for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.

Romans 10:8-10.

Page 19: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Faith is not just mental acknowledgement.

• James 2:19.

You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.

James says the demons believe in God, that is, they have faith, but the faith they have is useless. It does not result in appropriate works, it is only a mental acknowledgment of God's existence.

The demons acknowledge and believe that God exists.

Page 20: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Faith involves action.

Two words are worth introducing here: Ascentia & Fiducia.

i. Ascentia is the mental acknowledgment of something's existence.

ii. Fiducia is more than mental acknowledgment. It involves a trust in something a giving over to it, a complete believing and acceptance of something.

This is the kind of faith that a Christian has in Christ.

A Christian, therefore, has fiducia, that is, he has real faith and trust in Christ and not simply an acknowledgment that He lived on earth at one time.

Page 21: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

False Faith does not result in Godly works.

James 2:14-17. What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?

Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, Go, I wish well: keep warm and well fed, but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Page 22: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Two kinds of Faith.

James gives examples of what true and false faiths are.

He demonstrates what an empty faith is, (v 15-17) and gives an example of the type of faith that isn't much different from the faith of demons (v 19).

Then he gives examples of living faith by showing Abraham and Rahab as the type of people who demonstrated their faith by their deeds.

James is examining two kinds of faith:

One that leads to godly works and one that does not.

One is true, and the other is false.

One is dead, the other alive.

Page 23: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Two kinds of Faith.

Justification by faith alone has been opposed by Roman Catholicism, which says that a combination of our faith and good works provides for our justification.

One impetus for this understanding has been Rome’s fear that the doctrine of justification by faith alone would encourage people to live immoral lives.

Rome fears that this doctrine might lead some to think that the casual acceptance of Jesus without any change in one’s life is the kind of faith that justifies.

Page 24: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

True Faith.

In order to meet such objections, the Protestant Reformers were careful to outline the biblical definition of faith in their writings. True faith always leads to a changed life.

The definition of biblical faith given by the Reformers showed that faith is not merely a casual acceptance of Jesus. True faith has three essential aspects: notitia, assensus, and fiducia.

nōtitia: notice, acquaintance (KNOWLEDGE)

assēnsus: agreed with, assented to, approved (BELIEF)

fiducia: trust, faith, confidence, credit (COMMITMENT)

Persecution from the world.

John 15:18-25.

If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.

If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.

As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.

That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also… But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: They hated me without reason.

Page 26: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Job isn’t a story that we think of as a “persecution” story, but when you consider the book’s context it absolutely is. Many believe Job was the first book of the Bible written and therefore our first look at the Hebrew understanding of why evil and suffering exist.

The Hebrews were surrounded by cultures who said suffering came from fickle gods who enjoyed human suffering. If you worked hard to please the gods then they might reward you, if not you would be punished. Job refutes this, showing suffering as coming from a (then) mysterious “accuser” who wages accusations against us before the one true God. This God may allow suffering to happen, but he does not cause it and he ultimately honors Job’s faithfulness, restoring what he lost. Open Doors website.

Persecution of Christians.

Page 27: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Persecution of Christians.

To understand what is behind the persecution of God’s chosen covenant people, firstly the Jews (Israel) and then also the Church (Christians) we need to look at Scripture, particularly references to the unseen rulers of the world that Paul speaks about on a number of occasions.

Reference is made to the“Divine Council” or “The Sons of God” on numerous occasions in the Old Testament.

Page 28: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Our attitude during trials and suffering.

Hebrews 10:32-37.

Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering.

Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated.

You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.

Page 29: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Our attitude during trials and suffering.Hebrews 10:32-37.

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

For, In just a little while, he who is comingwill come and will not delay.

The song “I have decided to follow Jesus”.

According to Dr P. Job, the lyrics are based on the last words of Nokseng, a Garo man, a tribe from Meghalaya which then was in Assam, who along with his family decided to follow Jesus Christ in the middle of the 19th century through the efforts of an American Baptist missionary. Called to renounce his faith by the village chief, the convert declared, "I have decided to follow Jesus." His two children were killed and in response to threats to his wife, he continued, "Though no one join me, still I will follow." His wife was killed, and he was executed while singing,

"The world behind me, The cross before me." This display of faith is reported to have led to the conversion of the chief and others in the village. The fierce opposition was possible, as various tribes in that area were formerly renowned for head-hunting.

Chapter 2: Discipleship.

The true disciple will join in Jesus mission.

Matthew 28:16-20.

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Page 32: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

We don’t need a call to make Disciples we have a command.

John 15:8,16.

By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples….

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide (FRUIT THAT WILL LAST), so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

The true test is not how many respond to the altar call, but how many choose to be disciples.

The Lord has instructed us to make Disciples.

Page 33: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

The progression in discipling.

1. They watched Jesus

2. He sent them out

3. They returned and gave an account

4. He physically left

Paul followed Jesus example.

2 Timothy 2:2.

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.

Page 34: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Disciple (the Greek word) is used 269 times in the Gospels and the book of Acts.

A disciple is a learner and a follower. Unless there is a love for the Lord that surpasses everything we cannot be His disciple.Luke 14v 25-27.Large crowds were travelling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters yes, even their own life such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

God didn’t save you to make you happy but holy.

Page 35: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Discipline.

1 John 2:6. Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.Luke 6:40. The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

The disciple in Christianity is a follower of Jesus Christ, desiring to learn his ways and apply them to his life.

Many learn but do not apply.

(The person who starts at the end of 33 years has only had to disciple 33 people spending a full year with each one)Unfortunately many Christians remains spiritual babies who can’t look after themselves let alone disciple and look after others.

God a God of order.Establishing priorities.

People use the phrase “I’ll do it when The Spirit leads me to” and it is just an excuse to lead a sloppy undisciplined life governed by emotions and whims.

John 9:4.

As long as it is day, we must do the worksof him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

1 Corinthians 14:40.

Let all things be done decently and in order.

2 Timothy 1:7.

How do you use the remaining 5 Hours?

How do you use the time you have on the week-end?

To properly use the time we all have, it is vital that we establish priorities or else we will waste time on

secondary things.

Page 45: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Character is more important than gifting.

In the past the mistake has often been made of focussing on the redemption of the lost rather than discipleship, but the commission given to us by Christ himself is not to make converts, but disciples..

• Disciple and Discipline have the same root word. God is more interested in our character than in our ministry, for this reason the greatest percentage of Jesus ministry was on our character and not our work or ministry.

• The suffering and hardship that the Lord allows in our lives is not to hinder our ministry, but to shape our character, which in itself is all too often the biggest hindrance to our ministry.

Page 46: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Discipline.

You will be undisciplined

• If you don’t have clear goals for your life.

Proverbs 29:18.

Where there is no vision the people cast off restraint.

• If you are uncommitted

• If you are governed by your emotions

• If you don’t know how to change

• If you procrastinate, time wasted is playing into Satan's hands

Page 47: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

From “Cry of the Human heart”• Now we have something very sad in the church today. Too

many of the called-out people do not behave like called-out people. Often they behave almost the same as when they were in the kingdom of darkness – the kingdom they were supposed to leave behind. In the Church under the surface we find jealousy, quarrelling, competition, resentment, lack of love apathy and selfishness. The lack of love in the Church, the lack of fruit for God, the lack of spiritual power, is not because believers are rebellious. They are not bad, or wrong or naughty. It is simply that they are underdeveloped. They are babes. They cannot do more or love more: they cannot give more or evangelize more, not because they are rebels, but because they are babies. That is the complaint of the apostles about the Christians in the early Church.

Page 48: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

What tells us that we are really babes?

• First of all, our dependency on others rather than on God. We are always asking for prayers, always needing pastoral visits, always needing comfort.

• We are always looking for someone to take care of us. This is dependence. In seminary Pastors are trained in Pastoral Theology to maintain people as babes.

• One must visit them and keep them entertained. But the purpose of believers is not to be entertained in the congregations until they die in the grace of God!

• We must grow up and develop and become ministers ourselves. Pastors are to prepare the saints for the work of ministry, not to entertain them. They are not caretakers of a brick pile, but builders of a building!

Page 49: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Discipline.

• If we continue our traditional type of visiting and counselling, we won’t change the situation.

• Our religious institutions often look more like a hospital than an army. The pastor has to go from bed to bed asking, “How are you, brother? How do you feel? That’s nice!”

• When I was a little boy, a preacher came to our Church who had a nice long beard. Beards were not common in those days and I fell in love with the beard. So in the secret of my heart, I started to pray & fast for a beard like his.

Page 50: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Discipline.

• I was only eight years old. One day while I was fasting, my mother said, “ Aren’t you going to eat, Johnny?”

“No, Mommy, I am fasting,”

“What is the son?”

“It’s a secret prayer to the Lord”

“I didn’t tell the reason for my fast, but the beard did not come. When I was sixteen, the beard came without fasting. I grew up, that’s all. Often what we lack can only come by growth!

Babies need to be disciplined sometimes not pacified.

Page 51: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Discipline.

Hebrews 5:11-14.

• …You have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone one who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.

1 Corinthians 3:1-2.

• And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to babes in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able….

Page 52: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

The root word for disciple is discipline, and discipline is freedom.

You may disagree about the importance of self - discipline , and if you do you are certainly not alone.

For many people discipline is a dirty word that is equated with the absence of freedom.

In fact the opposite is true. As Stephen R. Covey once wrote, “the undisciplined are slaves to moods, appetites and passions”. And in the longer term, the undisciplined lack the freedom that comes with possessing particular skills and abilities – e.g. to play a musical instrument or speak a foreign language.

Goals on track.com

Page 53: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

It is self- discipline that drives you to:• Work on an idea or project

after the initial rush of enthusiasm has faded away

• Go to the gym when all you want to do is lie on the couch and watch TV

• Wake early to work on yourself

• Say “no” when tempted to break your diet

• Self-discipline involves acting according to what you thinkinstead of how you feel in the moment. Often it involves sacrificing the pleasure and thrill of the moment for what matters most in life.

Page 54: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

3 Categories among which burnout is the greatest

Housewives.Ministers/Pastors.Commission only Salesmen.• 2 Timothy 1:7.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.The Greek word for discipline: sophromisos (from sophron: lit: saving the mind) KJV- Sound mind

Page 55: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

What is the problem in these 3 categories?

i. Self motivation and discipline is vital as there is often a misconception about the work load.

ii. Lack of appreciation. No one to push you when you are lazy.No one to praise you when you work hard.

The solution.Colossians 3:23.Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

Page 56: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Maturity.Maturity is not measured by how old you are, but by how responsible you are.1 John 2:12-13.I am writing to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning.I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one.

• Children: Unable to look after themselves.• Young men: Able to look after themselves.• Fathers: Able to look after others.

Page 57: Bible College Year 1 Module 1 Christian Foundations ...

Fathers.

Paul was a Spiritual father.1 Corinthians 4:14,15. I am writing this not to shame you but to warn you as my dear children. Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. Therefore I urge you to imitate me. For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.

Without discipline hopes remain dreams.

Proverbs: 25v28.

Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.

Titus: 1v8. 6.

An elder must not be….. overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

Without discipline hopes remain dreams.

Character is more important than gifts because character determines how we use our gifts.

(Acts:7:22) Moses was well equipped, but killed an Egyptian when he was 40 years old, due to lack of self control, after 40 years his character was brought into line.

No one can lead others well until he has mastered himself

There are natural desires that must be kept in check or they will cause us to sin.

Paul’s instruction regarding his treatment of his own body.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27.

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Sleep.Matthew 26:40-45 (Peter)Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. …….Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, Are you still sleeping and resting?Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!

Thirst and hunger.

Philippians 3:17-19. 17.Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.

Thirst and hunger.

1 Corinthians 11:20-22 & 33,34. For when you are eating, some of you go ahead with your own private suppers. As a result, one person remains hungry and another gets drunk. Don’t you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God by humiliating those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? Certainly not in this matter! So then, my brothers and sisters, when you gather to eat, you should all eat together. Anyone who is hungry should eat something at home, so that when you meet together it may not result in judgment

Sex.

1 Corinthians 7:4-5.The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.All these desires are natural and must be subject to self control so that we are not mastered by our bodies and it’s appetites. We can then offer our bodies as a living sacrifice which is our reasonable service. (Romans 12:1.)

There are sinful desires that we must put to death.

1 Peter 1:13-17.

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy.

Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.

There are 3 groups of people.

I. Those who watch things happen.

II. Those who make things happen.

III. Those who wonder what happened?

The great commission can only be fulfilled if we look at Ephesians 4:11 and realise the Church is a training ground to prepare people for ministry and not a nursery or entertainment centre.
