Engagement at work was conceptualized by Kahn(1990) as the harnessing of organization
members sel!es to their work roles" #n engagement$ people employ and e%press themsel!es
physically$ cogniti!ely$ and emotionally during role performances" &he second related construct
to engagement in emotional beha!ior is the notion of flow ad!anced by 'sikzentmihalyi (19)
defines flow as the holistic sensation that$ people feel when they act with total in!ol!ement"

indi!iduals are in flow state little conscious control is necessary for their actions"
Employee Engagement has become a hot topic which is commanding the attention of an e!erincreasing number of companies" #t is somewhat surprising therefore that$ as yet$ there is no
generally accepted single definition of employee engagement" ,any companies and -.
managers are talking about it$ but !ery few define it" /o our purpose here is to pro!ide a succinct
re!iew of the research into employee engagement$ and to offer a range of definitions$ including
our own working definition" ne of the most comprehensi!e re!iews of the research is

organization and its success" Engaged employees e%perience a compelling purpose and meaning

#n other words$ how employee engagement impacts on customer satisfaction and profitability"

facilities such that the detailing can be made by using drafting packages such as 8&'C" #n
future$ e!en mode complicated structures will be generated by using latest techni?ues like
*orme% algebra" E!en components of structures will be fabricated using numerically controlled
machines as per the designs made by the computer" &here will be a lot of computer usage at the
construction site too" &hese computers will site too" &hese computers will store data such as
fabrication drawings$ stock of materials at site$ regular progress made in construction$ labour
employed and money spent on a day to day basis"
Cue to the use of computers in all aspects of analysis$ design$ estimation and e%ecution of
different types of buildings$ the e%ecution times of pro3ects may be reduced" &he de!elopment of
nonlinear analysis programs will result in the adoption of inno!ati!e structures such as tensile
structures" /uch structures ha!e already been adopted in se!eral de!eloped countries to co!er
!ery large space with minimum cost" &he construction of intelligent structures will grow" #n
these structures$ the built5in computers will automatically open and close doors$ change the
orientation of window fins such that the air conditioning load is reduced$ etc"

materials such as fly ash$ blast furnace slag$ and recycled concrete will be encouraged (based on
