Circle of Friends:The Hills are Alive, with the
Sound of Music! Our muchanticipated trip to the Bass Hallperformance of The Sound ofMusic was enjoyed by many ofour Belmont Village residents andfamily members. It was a busy andfun-filled Saturday afternoonouting. We were pleased to have 4resident daughters join our fun.Special thanks to family membersBeth Bernhard, Elizabeth Morris,Gail Goodman and Kaye Youngfor accompanying us on thismusical adventure.
February also marked our 2nd“Families Together” speaker serieshosted by Margaret DeVinney,educating all with “Dementia101.” Please mark your calendarsand plan to join us onWednesday, March 23rd, from6:30-7:30pm as we continue our“Dementia 101” series with aninteractive experience on what itfeels like to live impaired.
Our February 4th Circle ofFriends Open House was a hugesuccess! We LOVED hostingvisitors from “The Gathering” asthey joined us for a full day inCircle of Friends. A friendlyreminder, we welcome family andfriends to join us anytime.
Finally, we are getting ready forspring. Bernie Bernhard is leadingour new Garden Club as we moveoutside with our spring plantingprojects. All gardeners welcome aswe add spring color in and aroundBelmont Village.

Lynda is high energy withlots of fun and fresh ideas to bringto our residents. Julie Retersdorfalso joins us as she completes herdegree. Julie is a retired RN andWestlake mom who is changinghats and moving into memorycare activities. Julie is thrilled tobe assisting here at BelmontVillage as she loves serving thosein her own neighborhood.
Our Wednesday outingscontinue with great success! Weare becoming frequent visitors atThe Laura Bush Library or “Laura’sLibrary” are we fondly call it. Wehave also made stops at Starbucksfor hot chocolate, and JuiceLandfor fruit smoothies, as we enjoyour glorious scenic drives aroundAustin.
Lastly, when you stop by to seeus in the neighborhood, be sure towear your workout shoes and joinour fun. We are getting physical inMarch as we bowl, parachute andvolley. Come join our fun andprepare to move!
NURSES’ CORNERWarning Signs of a
Heart AttackSome heart attacks are sudden
and intense-the “movie heartattack,” where no one doubtswhat’s happening. But mostheart attacks start slowly, withmild pain or discomfort. Oftenpeople affected aren’t surewhat’s wrong and wait too longbefore getting help. Here aresigns that can mean a heartattack is happening.
Chest discomfort thatoriginates in the center of thechest lasting more than a fewminutes or that goes away andcomes back. It can feel likeuncomfortable pressure,squeezing, fullness or pain.
Upper body discomfort thatincludes pain in your arms, theback, neck, jaw or stomach.Women are more likely toexperience chest pain withnausea, vomiting, back orjaw pain.
Shortness of breath with orwithout chest discomfort.
Other signs may includebreaking out in a cold sweat,nausea or light headedness.
Calling 9-1-1 is almost alwaysthe fastest way to get lifesavingtreatment. Even if you’re notsure it’s a heart attack, have itchecked out.
