Bearden freshman quarterback Collin Ironside finished the regular season as Region 1-6A’s leader in total yards passing with 1,829 yards. Ironside started just seven games this season for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have won just one road playoff game since 1996 (2009 at Sevier County). Tonight’s game marks Riverdale’s first home playoff game in two years. The Warriors are 7-1 since 2009 in home playoff games. Riverdale hasn’t lost a first round playoff game since 1999. Bulldog quarterback-turned-wide receiver Dawson Houser has been Bearden’s leader in receptions in each of the past three games (6, 9, and 8). Tonight’s game is Bearden’s furthest road trip (176 miles) this season and furthest overall since 1960 (not including 1995’s game which was also at Riverdale). RIVERDALE 2016 SEASON IN REVIEW Following a 1-3 start to the season, Riverdale was able to turn around and finish in third place in Region 2-6A. The Warriors dropped games two through four on their schedule (Franklin, Blackman, Hillsboro) by a combined 12 points. Those three teams finished their regular seasons with a combined record of 21-9. The next three games on the schedule lined up more favorably for Riverdale, as they faced Region 2-6A’s eighth (Coffee County), seventh (Warren County), and fifth place (Siegel) teams all in a row. The Warriors won those three games by an average of 22 points, and headed into a rivalry game with Oakland with a 4-3 (3-1) record. Riverdale lost in “The Battle of the ‘Boro” by 28 points, but rebounded with a three-point win over fourth place Smyrna. The Warriors ended the regular season with a 17-point upset loss to Cookeville. SERIES INFO Riverdale has a 1-0 all-time series lead over Bearden. The two schools’ only meeting came in the 1995 TSSAA Playoff Quarterfinals, a 17-6 Warrior win. The Bulldogs have a 9-16 all-time postseason record. No. 3 seeded Bearden lost their first playoff game as a part of the new Region 1-6A to No. 6 seeded Siegel on Region 2-6A last season. In their first round playoff game against Region 1-6A last season, Riverdale beat Bradley Central, 38-34. The Warriors lost in the second round to Oakland. BEARDEN STAT LEADERS: VS.
