AUTOMOTIVE VENTILATION FOR PARKED CARS
Aug 13, 2015
INTRODUCTION The temperature inside car cabin increases easily up to 40C Higher cabin temperature can cause color fading Conduction, convection and radiation are main causes This prototype mainly focuses on regulating the internal
temperature of the car.
Sunrays increasing the cabin temperature.
LITERATURE SURVEY
1. Toyota Prius (3rd GEN, 2010) It includes solar panel It uses energy to operate air conditioning system It operates ventilation system of car
Toyota Prius Optional Solar Panel.
2.BMW 7series
BMW 7series has parked car ventilation It blows air into the passenger compartment to reduce interior
temperatures The system is operated via iDrive. It remains switched on for 30 minutes.
3. BMW e39 (5 series)
The parked car ventilation feature of the E38 (7 series) system is retained on the E39 IHKA system.
The signal to activate the venting function is generated by the BC function of the IKE.
The signal is passed over the K-Bus to the IHKA for fan and flap activation.
WORKING
Op Amp, 741 as comparator, compares inside car temperature with ambient.
Relay energies to operate blower if inside car temp. is higher than ambient.
IC 555 timer operates blower with preset interruption
Astable multivibrator restricts prolonged operation of blower when car is parked for long time
It also saves battery power
COMPONENTS USED IN CIRCUIT1. Operational amplifier (op-amp)
An operational amplifier (op-amp) is a DC-coupled high-gain voltage amplifier
It has a differential input and, normally, a single-ended output Particular circuit can be form by using an op-amp with some
external components with little dependence on temperature changes
Circuit diagram symbol for an op-amp
V+: non-inverting input
V−: inverting input
Vout: output
VS+: positive power supply
VS−: negative power supply
2. IC 555 timer
The 555 timer IC is an integrated circuit used as a timer, pulse generation, and oscillator.
The 555 can be used to provide time delays, and as a flip-flop element also
the standard 555 package includes 25 transistors, 2 diodes and 15 resistors
They are installed on a silicon chip in an 8-pin mini dual-in-line package.
3. Relay
A relay is an electrically operated switch that uses an electromagnet to mechanically operate a switch.
Relays are used where it is necessary to control a circuit by a low-power signal,
They are used where several isolated circuits are to be controlled by one signal.
It consists of a coil of wire wrapped around a soft iron core, an iron yoke, a movable iron armature, and one or more sets of contacts.
CONCLUSION
The new design aimed at regulating the inside car cabin temperature
It runs blower, exhaust fan and digital controlled electronic circuit unit except that ignition is off.
It has dual timer for running the circuit at regular intervals It keeps the blower working for particular interval of time. Thus it has helped to keep air circulating in the regular intervals It also help in saving the battery power. The circuit design is much cheaper than microcontroller circuit
FUTURE SCOPE1. 42 V TECHNOLOGY
The circuit prototype design can be used effectively with the 42V volt technology.
The problems of power deficiency can be achieved by this technology.
It also enhance the use of air conditioning system
2. SOLAR PANELS
The solar power generation can be used to fulfill the requirement. It will convert sun energy to charge the battery in regular
intervals. This will help to run the circuit effectively. The circuit cost is cheaper than any other cooling equipment’s. It can cope up cost of solar panels
