CBSE Avishkar Quiz The school level CBSE Avishkar Quiz was conducted in the campus on 11 July 2016 at Primary, Middle and Secondary Level as per CBSE guidelines with two rounds. Hindi Handwriting Week

DPS Tapi celebrated Hindi Handwriting week from 18- 29 July 2016 for classes I to V to motivate students to write the ‘Hindi Akshar-matras’ in the correct way. All the students practiced fine motor skills, correct sitting posture and pencil grip to improve their handwriting.

Delhi Public School Tapi students from Classes VI to X participated in the Under-17 Boys Football Championship held at Essar International School, Hazira- Surat on 14 and 16 July 2016.

Monsoon Fancy Dress and Rain Dance

Monsoon Fancy Dress was celebrated on 26 July 2016 for the classes PN-II. All the students were dressed up as clouds, rainbow, raindrops, thunder and umbrella. They showed creativity to depict the monsoon and conveyed the importance of monsoon season through verbal presentation. The most exciting Rain Dance was on 10 August for primary classes where they drenched themselves and danced on melodious monsoon tunes along with their teachers.

Friendship Day “Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to

explain. It's not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything”. World Friendship Day was celebrated through music and dance in a special assembly by Class III A on 28 July. Primary students made beautiful cards for their friends.

Garden Week School gardens are a wonderful way to use the schoolyard as a classroom, reconnect

students with the natural world and the true source of their food. Garden Week was observed at Pre Primary and Primary levels from 1- 6 August 2016. Pre Primary students brought life through window plants. Classes I-IV observed bottle garden week with different planting techniques. Classes V were very excited and enthusiastic as they planted fruits and veggies in the school garden and learned actual agricultural process. The children enjoyed the week and learnt many new things about the gardening. It was an integrated learning approach where they learned about the agricultural process along with the importance of farmers in their life. The follow up activity was the vegetable harvesting where students harvested the vegetables and distributed to utility staff of the school based on lottery. They experienced the joy of sharing in the lap of the nature.

Medical Check-up

DPS Tapi organized a Medical Camp for all students on 4 and 5 August 2016 for dental, eye and general health, by the team of Jarma Doctors. Detailed Medical Reports were provided to all students.

Independence Week Independence Day was celebrated at DPS

Tapi on 15 August 2016 with patriotic songs and dance showcasing the importance of our hard won freedom. Junior Independence Week was celebrated by students from Pre-Nursery to Class II from 8-11 August 2016. The students learned the significance of our tri-colour National Flag and our famous freedom fighters. Best Out of Waste

Best Out of Waste Week was observed at DPS Tapi from 8-12 August 2016 for Classes III-V. Students learned to utilize leftover waste to make beautiful pencil holders, bags, wall hangings and various decorative items. They learned the value of recycling.

Navroz In the spirit of Unity in Diversity and pride in Indianness that the Parsi community is famous for, students from PN to Class II celebrated Navroz with fancy dress and speeches on 16 August 2016. Class III A conducted a special assembly with skit and song on the importance of Parsi New Year.

Maths Mela Mathematics is the music of reason or the

cosmos viewed through the logic of numbers. An array of activities during Maths Mela week helped DPS Tapi students to understand the basics of mathematics, like logic, intuition, analysis and construction. Charts and models enthusiastically prepared by students were exhibited on 20 August at the Secondary Level and on 3 September 2016 at the Primary Level.

Rakshabandhan Rakshabandhan was celebrated on 19 August 2016 with a special assembly by Class V A, highlighting the historical significance of this event.

Janmashtami Class V B conducted the Janmashtami Assembly on 24 August 2016 entirely in Gujarati and Sanskrit with shlokas, news, a skit on the life of Krishna and Raasleela in Garba. The Primary students made pyramids and enjoyed their Matka-phori while students from Pre-Nursery to Class II decorated beautiful pots.

Indian Languages Day Classes VI to VIII conducted a special assembly in Gujarati, Sanskrit and Hindi on 26 August 2016 to celebrate India’s linguistic diversity and to “Study through games”.

CBSE Cryptic Crossword Pranjal Jasani from X A and Munish Katoch from IX A secured the Fourth Position in the CBSE Cryptic Crossword at Alchemy School.

Vipassana Meditation is an ancient practice that helps in regulating mind and body. Vipassana anapana-sati for Classes IV-X on 13 September 2016 helped students in inner-transformation through self-observation by focusing on their normal breathing.

National Sports Day “Movement is a medicine for improving physical, emotional, and mental states.” Fitness

week was observed for the Classes I-V from 29 August to 1 September 2016 with yoga, aerobics and stretching exercises to test and improve their physical strength and concentration. Students from Pre Nursery to Classes II dressed up in fancy sports gear while they learned all about different sports. Students of Class VIII-A conducted the National Sports Day assembly on 29 August 2016, simulating the Rio Olympics.

Teacher's Day A teacher inspires hope, ignites the imagination, and instills love of learning. Teacher’s Day was celebrated on 3 September at DPS Tapi with many enthralling games and competitions, interesting prizes and a scrumptious lunch.

Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated by Class IV A with a special assembly consisting of bhajans, presentation, dance, riddles and quiz on Lord Ganesh.

Literary Week

Classes III-V enjoyed a fun-filled week making a Book of Bedtime Stories. Some of the best books were donated to an Orphanage. A Fancy Dress Parade with speeches by Literary Characters was held for Classes III-V on 8 September and for Classes VI-X on 9 September 2016. The students brought their favourite literary persona alive through their verbal presentations.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Emergency Evacuation Drill for fire and certain other security threats was rehearsed by all students and staff at DPS Tapi on 14 September 2016, to be prepared for emergencies.

DPS Tapi teachers attended a Hindi Workshop conducted by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Jain on 12 August 2016 on new teaching methodologies of phonics, language skills, analysis and thinking. Our teachers were appreciated for the advanced teaching learning practices followed at school.
