Growing UP WILD is an early childhood education program that builds on children’s sense of won-
der about nature and invites them to explore wildlife and the world around them. Through a wide
range of activities and experiences, Growing UP WILD provides an early foundation for developing
positive impressions about the natural world and lifelong social and academic skills.
DAY 1: Project Learning Tree: Environmental Experience for Early Childhood is a curriculum that
provides an introduction to environmental education, encouraging young children to explore, dis-
cover and communicate in expressive ways. There are over 130 experiences that engage children in
outdoor play and exploration. Learning ® Magazine chose PLT’s Environmental Experiences for
Early Childhood as their Teacher’s Choice Award Winner! Participants will also receive this activity
guide.

crafts, art projects, music, conservation activities, reading and math connections and much more.
This document is correlated to the National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC) Standards and the Head Start Domains.

Project WILD: Growing UP WILD and Project Learning Tree: Environmental Experience for Early Childhood
The Project WILD integrated curriculum is a supplemental curriculum that is focused on providing
information, as well as helping students to evaluate choices and to make responsible decisions. In
Short, Project WILD’s mission is to help students learn how to think, not what to think about wild-
life and the environment.
Project WILD curriculum materials adhere to those strict efforts for balance and objectivity, backed
by sound educational practices and theory. It also represents the work of many within the fields of
education and natural resources management from across the country. The activities have been cor-
related to the GPS in all content areas. The activities are organized into topic units reflecting major
components of environment literacy. Additionally, background information found in the activities
provides current statistics and updated factual information highlighting successful conservation ef-
forts.
Participants will receive the Project WILD K-12 Curriculum and Activi-
ty Guide, and the Project WILD Aquatic K-12 Curriculum and Activity
Guide. October 27 & 28, 2011 are the dates for this session and is
from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. each day in RESA Room 605. There is
