The Building Committee began working with the next-highest-bidder to come up with a bid will allow us to move forward. On Sunday night, August 28, we will have a Called Business Meeting at 6:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This will be directly after all of the church programs for that night. At this meeting the Leadership Council will explain the recommendation that comes to the church about moving ahead with the building program. In addition, the Building Committee will update us on the current plans for the building. We will then take a written ballot vote that night on the recommendation from the Leadership Council. It is important to go ahead and vote that night so that we can honor the timetable for the bids established by the contractor. If approved, we will move forward immediately with the contractor to plan a Groundbreaking ceremony that will begin the construction work. I hope that you can be present on August 28. If you are not able to do so, you may vote by absentee ballot in the church office or by contacting our Deacon Chair, Paul Allison, at [email protected] for a link to an electronic ballot. Next week you will find more details about the building project in the Messenger.

“The glory of the young is their strength; the gray hair of experience is the splendor of the
old.” Proverbs 20:29 NLT
Retirement is full of change so plan how to transition from job to no job and how
to reinvent yourself with a new identity or purpose. Research shows that staying active keeps you healthy because of
the intellectual stimulus it offers and the socialization it provides. Offer your talents/skills/hobbies to your church, local hospital,
or community agency. To socialize join a hobby club, get a part-time job, or take a
class in something new. If you are struggling with retirement, how is your spouse doing? It is an adjustment to both of you so discuss the changes, create together time, but keep
some time for yourself. Make retirement healthy and positive by staying active and
interested in your surroundings.
