FLUID MECHANICS (I)
Assignment 2
What would the pressure in KN/m2 of the equivalent head is measured as 400 mm of
A mercury (S.G.=13.6)
Oil specific weight 7.9KN/m3
A liquid of density 520Kg/m3
water
A closed tank contain 1.5 m of oil (S.G.=0.87), 1m of water, 20cm of mercury and an air space on top at 20℃ .
The absolute pressure at bottom of the tank is 60KPa. What is the pressure in the air space
In the figure fluid 1 is oil (S.G.= 0.87) and fluid 2 is glycerin (S.G.=1.26). If Pa=98KPa, determine the absolute pressure at point A (Patm=1.013bar)
Find the pressure difference Pa-Pb in the figure below if (d1=330mm, d2=160mm, d3=480mm, d4=230mm)
Determine the pressure difference PA-PB in Pa
(γ_benzene=8640N/m^3,γ_(kerosene )=7885N/m^3,γ_air=12N/m^3 )
Gauge A in the figure below reads 350KPa absolute what is the height h of the water in cm
What should gauge B read in KPa absolute
In the following U-tube with enlarged ends
Given ( h1=100cm, h2=80cm, S.G.=0.8, S.G.m=0.9, y=40mm, A/a=25)
Determine Pgas

Calculate the hydrostatic force on the quarter cylinder gate shown in figure in its length =5m.
