An individual authorized by ASME to act on its behalf for the purpose of performing reviews, surveys, assessments, audits, surveillances, investigations and examinations of organizations or persons holding, or applying for, accreditation or certification in accordance with the ASME Code or Standard or for ISO Registration

Definition—Consultant

An ASME Designee under contract to ASME

ASME DESIGNEE• May be

– An individual or employee of a non-profit organization or government agency

– An individual who is not employed by the organization being reviewed and does not engage in work of a conflicting nature

• May not be– An employee of the organization’s AIA– An employee of a Certificate Holder (or applicant)

under the same accreditation program– An ASME employee engaged in related work – A member of the BHA– An individual having a financial interest in the

organization
