Dear friends, It’s been a busy week trying to get my head around everything at Waterloo. But I’m really excited about the prospects our three parishes can do together. I asked the Archdiocesan communications office to create a new logo for our partnership. The description is below. Next Sunday is Pentecost. What a great time to pray and ask the Spirit to lead us and guide us. The Spirit gives all the gitfs we need to engage in God’s mission. I encourage you to say this prayer each day this week for the intentions of our parish and for our common mission. Begin by invoking the Holy Spirit using Pope John XXIII’s ‘invocation’ prayer: Renew your wonders in this our day, as by a new Pentecost. Grant to your Church that, being of one mind and steadfast in prayer with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and following the lead of Blessed Peter, it may advance the reign of our Divine Saviour, the reign of truth and justice, the reign of love and peace. Amen. Come Holy Spirit, in your power and might to renew the face of the earth. Holy Spirit, awaken the whole human race and help us to build bridges of trust that open our hearts to the Good News of Jesus Christ. Dear friends,
It’s been a busy week trying to get my head around everything at
Waterloo. But I’m really excited about the prospects our three
parishes can do together. I asked the Archdiocesan communications
office to create a new logo for our partnership. The description is
below.
Next Sunday is Pentecost. What a great time to pray and ask the Spirit to
lead us and guide us. The Spirit gives all the gitfs we need to engage in
God’s mission. I encourage you to say this prayer each day this week for
the intentions of our parish and for our common mission.
Begin by invoking the Holy Spirit using Pope John XXIII’s ‘invocation’
prayer: Renew your wonders in this our day, as by a new Pentecost.
Grant to your Church that, being of one mind and steadfast in prayer
with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and following the lead of Blessed
Peter, it may advance the reign of our Divine Saviour, the reign of
truth and justice, the reign of love and peace. Amen. Come Holy
Spirit, in your power and might to renew the face of the earth. Holy
Spirit, awaken the whole human race and help us to build bridges of
trust that open our hearts to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The Parishes of City South acknowledge the Gadigal People as the traditional custodians of this land.

St Joseph’s Rosebery is excited to host the screening of Bishop Barron’s “Catholicism” series from 11am Sunday 27th May & 3rd June followed by a light meal and finish at 1pm. Bishop Barron’s series is for anyone who wants to explore their faith.
We will screen two episodes per month over the course of the year. Our first two episodes concern “The Revelation of God Become Man”. So come join us for one or more of these sessions as we explore our own faith journey. Details of the schedule will be placed in the bulletin. Childcare is available.

Walk with Christ – 3 June 2018
All are invited to participate in this year’s Walk With Christ
Eucharistic Procession on the Feast of Corpus
Christi, Sunday 3 June 2018.
The procession will help mark the 200th anniversary of a
little known, but most heroic and faith-filled time in the
history of the Australian Church. In 1818, the Government
forcibly removed the only Catholic priest in Australia, Fr
Jeremiah O’Flynn, from Sydney. Fr O’Flynn’s last pastoral
act was to leave the Blessed Sacrament reserved in a
faithful Catholic’s home so that the colonists and prisoners
could come to adore Christ present there. For two years,
the Blessed Sacrament, in this lay Sydney home, was the
source and centre of worship and consolation for the
priestless Catholics of the Australian colony.
Please look for the Books of Life in your parish to write
your prayer intentions that will be offered at the end of the
procession.
Invitation to Joey’s Youth Group. They are meeting on the
20th, 6—8pm in Rosebery Hall.
ENTRANCE ANTIPHON:
Proclaim a joyful sound and let it be heard; proclaim to the ends of the earth; The Lord has freed his people, alleluia.
COMMUNION ANTIPHON:
If you love me, keep my commandments, says the Lord, and I will ask the Father and he will send you another Paraclete, to abide with you for ever, alleluia.
“Charity is certainly greater than any rule. Moreover, all rules must lead to charity.” ― St. Vincent de Paul
Liturgy of the Word
First Reading Acts 1:1-11
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles
In my earlier work, Theophilus, I dealt with everything
Jesus had done and taught from the beginning until the
day he gave his instructions to the apostles he had cho-
sen through the Holy Spirit, and was taken up to heav-
en. He had shown himself alive to them after his Passion
by many demonstrations: for forty days he had contin-
ued to appear to them and tell them about the kingdom
of God. When he had been at table with them, he had
told them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for
what the Father had promised. ‘It is,’ he had said, ‘what
you have heard me speak about: John baptised with wa-
ter but you, not many days from now, will be baptised
with the Holy Spirit.’
Now having met together, they asked him, ‘Lord, has the
time come? Are you going to restore the kingdom
to Israel?’ He replied, ‘It is not for you to know times or
dates that the Father has decided by his own authority,
but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on
you, and then you will be my witnesses not only
in Jerusalem but throughout Judaea and Samaria, and
indeed to the ends of the earth.’
As he said this he was lifted up while they looked on,
and a cloud took him from their sight. They were still
staring into the sky when suddenly two men in white
were standing near them and they said, ‘Why are you
men from Galilee standing here looking into the sky? Je-
sus who has been taken up from you into heaven, this
same Jesus will come back in the same way as you have
