We propose a space of engagement and

deliberation that aims to recover participa-

tory memory, democratic principles and

the importance of the presence of human

rights in Peru.

We propose space of meeting and recogni-

tion of the various narratives about the acts

of violence in our country, for understand-

ing and responding to the demands of

justice for victims of the internal armed

conflict.

We propose a space of symbolic repara-

tion, public gestures, acts of recognition

and welcome to the victims of the internal

armed conflict.

We propose a space under construction:

dynamic, promoter of participation and

dialogue. Facilitator continuous process of

research and learning, a place of action and

reflection.

The spiral form is linked to dif-

ferent ways of understanding

the world and the cycles of life.

The spiral represents the evolu-

tion between the end of a stage

and the beginning of another in

a space and a different time.

The spiral is the mildest form of

land on the ground and go down,

through continuous paths that

provoke meeting from opposite

directions.

Culture and art have become to dynamic of

social, economic and political power there-

fore in desirable phenomenon in many cities

worldwide. Unfortunately the big shows are

still exclusive rather than inclusive. That is

why we propose a horizontal system into a

vertical structure.

The building performs as a focal point that

articulates different cultural situations

throughout the city. It also communicates,

locates and establishes relationships among

events happening within it, generating a

communication and interaction network.

On the other hand the structural exten-

sion (stage machinery) suggested for the

building not only reveals events happening

inside it, but also contains the necessary

mechanisms to operate three platforms

that allows this Gothic building to have

interior hyper flexibility.

In Between

In this studio project we were asked to

design a Cinema hall in Turkey, which were

able to host the increasing bike culture in

the city and the biodiversity of the Mediter-

ranean. In order to find this common area

of co-relation we proposed a project that

acts as a bridge between multiple situations,

organic-inorganic, city-nature, past-pro-

logue, and so on.

The topology of this surface is deformed

according to the “guest” is going to host.

Therefore, the big volume in the middle is

the house for theater while the linear “arms”

that grow from it, is a BMX track that in cer-

tain places divides the path between bikers a

shelter spots for butterflies to live.

At the same time we were interested in

create a project with expiration date, so we

used sponge travertine that have the proper-

ties to host nature within its cracks

For the development of the Museum shop

we propose an autonomous and free instal-

lation; an object that is halfway between

the idea of a three-dimensional shelf (liv-

ing) and a sculpture auction and propose a

dialogue with the entrance hall to a cultural

complex. For this propose building a vol-

ume assume the proportions of the space

(a parallelepiped) dematerializes but lose

weight and be composed of a fabric. With

the idea of continuity we seek to overcome

the conflicting relationship between figure

and background, without formal dramatics

or homogenisation.

Structurally these tissues (mesh) are

lightweight, stable and high efficiency

constructive elements; but also in the

context of a Museum of Contemporary Art

allow us to generate a closer tie-ups with

and so traditional and common cultural

bond Colombian woven handicraft materi-

als. That is, the tissues allow us to evoke a

local information manually constructed by

intermixing materials (one craft).

composed from a single module

At the same time, we highlight the

double dialogue that the pavilion raises

to display: the structure disappears

and is attenuated while displaying

an item or reappears in its plastic

dimension when empty - beating that

particular feeling that occurs when

you see a half-empty shelf or fill . We

propose that this three-dimensional

mesh made from a single constructive

module that is replicated to form the

entire volume.

SeNa (Second Nature)

Under the concept of ecological thinking

and the fact that Pier 40 is sinking, this

project works as emerging island, which

is capturing the activities, materiality and

flows of the Pier, as well as, it is creating a

diffuse border with the Hudson River which

will produce new relationships between city,

birds and the living creatures in the river.

We were interested in the idea of creating an

institute in which different species –fishes,

water plants and Phytoplankton- could find

a habitat. Therefore, we proposed a surface

with particular qualities that respond to site,

inhabitants and environmental inputs. Also,

this surface works as a receptacle of site

information and objects. Through different

percentage of opacity in a mesh, the insti-

tute catches from wind, sunlight to garbage,

soil and water.

Eventually, that elements will create the

proper conditions for species to find shelter,

entertainment, shadow, food, etc.

See and don’t Touch

This project is the spatial and functional

adequacy of a house for the new headquar-

ters of a public gallery for contemporary art

and related programs. Working with the

constraints and legacy of a 1940’s English-

style building, we proposed the installation

of a floating mesh throughout the house

without transforming its spatial values.

We conceived the metallic uneven grid as a

support that combines the functional needs

of the gallery and weaves together the rooms

in the house.

The structure supports and unfolds

furniture, extends to hold items such as

bulletin boards, shelves for the documenta-

tion centre or hanging doors for isolating

the exhibition rooms with shared spaces. It

also allows for signs to be hung with three

colors indicating the different programs in

the gallery.

The project aims at decentralization of art

and the opening of alternative public spaces

for the promotion of creativity. It is man-

aged with very precise and limited public

resources. The intention of transmitting

the bet management visible and widespread

manner by the whole house recursive con-

structive strategies required, or put another

way to build more with less.

Ecodaily Machines

The project is a joint initiative seeking to

convert an area of three hectares into a

model of sustainable productivity for the

region. It proposes a series of daily machines

that respond to different functions: hous-

ing, social and economic. The machines

are standardized models that share basic

information that is transmitted from one to

another through geometric configurations.

At the same time, they have been designed

to integrate information with key natural

phenomena in their environment and to

transform daily through the interaction of

its inhabitants.

he machines serve a model of coexistence

that promotes public involvement while

preserving the individual desires of the

inhabitants. A network is established which

exchanges resources and shares functions

with the common areas, such as laundry,

orchard and cooking facilities.

The configuration satisfies the criteria of

efficiency related to water management,

recycling and energy optimization. Mean-

while, the machines work to relate to the

various forms of surrounding natural life.

What is the chance of raising the coexist-

ence relationship, without continuity or

shock, between a space with a program quite

clear (supermarket) and another that seeks

to replicate the very vagueness of public

space and proximity of domesticity? We

wanted clarify the presence of this bakery at

the risk of making design decisions guided

intuition and remix of images. In other

words, we have occupied more space ampli-

fied color, more forms and certain technical

and relational devices transposing public

and external logic-what domestic-and what

they could lead to an unexpected project.

The project is inhabited by 24 species of

objects that have been designed as an object-

based family. A family that answers common

formal features and materials but are flexible

and multiple in their usage format.

We have designed a ceiling of variable sec-

tion as a complementary geometry continu-

From late 2010 to the present, Colombia is

undergoing what has been the biggest en-

vironmental crisis in its history. The winter

has caused tragedies around the country and

has left hundreds of thousands of victims

and survivors. On the other hand the official

reports (and our own intuition) realize that

alterations and winter emergencies are here

to stay. In other words, weather phenomena

wet and dry areas are now first-line political

and economic agenda of the country.

From the perspective of a group of small

groups of architects and artists to be more

specific, we would like to know what the

role corresponende us in this. And in the

same sense to ask how can we update our

agenda critical, our pantry or our wardrobe?

To answer these questions, we followed

the headlines of major print media in the

country as a thread that would allow us to

uncover from a vision criticizes the true

state of the country and its prospects after

the tragedy; in return we have obtained

endless new questions we have compiled

and graphed in the fanzine that you have in

your manos.Si you are of those who made

the same questions or may have the answer

for some of them.

06.1

Common Places

For Nishi their work ends with a proposed

installation “build new areas, where citizens

literally come otherwise the historical herit-

age, renewing their meanings and making

visible its historical dimension”. For us it was

the beginning of a very undefined project

we wanted to take, ironically that classic

exercise for students of architecture, as the

design of a “house for an artist.” And finally

the modernist tradition established that

housing project offers better opportunities

to experiment, research and test new ideas.

In this case, temporary housing, 30 meters

high and the public.

How to solve this apartment and how to

build it we start with a simple observation

of the most everyday, energy of what is

available. This optimistic way of addressing

the context of natural restrictions on any

project we called “Declining resolution.”

This means that add value to the everyday,

ordinary revitalize or try to become a more

fact imperfection is how we adapt to the

accident and bureaucracy foregoing most

processes of our society

Colombian pavilion for Expo Milan 2015

The project is raised as the interaction of

four units that function as a harmonious

whole, where the distances between the

blocks generate clearances, ideal for the

warm and dry environment outside. The

ground floor is divided into squares of

common areas where the store is a place for

artisans; the restaurant presents typical local

products from the popular marketplaces.

It has an auditorium as a space for cultural

exchange and multiple events.

The second level is an exhibition space,

which can be accessed from the cover on an

upward path.

The exhibition spaces represent characteris-

tic climatic zones of the country, highlight-

ing the general aspects of the landscape,

Gastronomy, flora and fauna, inviting to

develop a conscious process of identity and

environmental conservation.
