UNDERSTANDING FOLDED PLATE

STRUCTURES :

MEMBRANE STRUCTURES AND FORM FINDING METHOD :

STUDY OF NEGATIVES AND POSITIVES :

BUILDING BLOCKS – CONTINUITY, PROPORTION AND SPACING :

The assignment aimed at exploring a cube of 15cm x 15cm and

playing with positive and negatives spaces using folds at 90º.

In this exercise we had to

depict the three seasons

without using any

symbolism using color as a

medium

ABSTRACT :

Folded structures in the plane are the structures in

which all the highest points of the elements and all

the elements of the lowest points of the folded

structure belong to two parallel planes.

To create a composition within an imaginary 50cm x 50cm cube using cuboids,

rectanguloids and spheres with the help of various materials.

A tensile structure is

a construction of

elements carrying

only tension and

no compression or bendi

ng. The term tensile

should not be confused

with temerity, which is a

structural form with both

tension and compression

elements. Tensile

structures are the most

common type of thin-

shell structures.

Simala house

Zakir Hussein – by Raj Rewel

In this housing he used the concept

of connectivity and alternate

terrace or balcony. He has shown connectivity in

ground floor, means from ground

floor apartments we can see whole

housing ground floors.

i have taken some influences from

this, but used in various manner.

Case study :

Services

In this apartment

every units is

duplex apartment

and its is arrange

beside services.

Kanchanjunga

So from this case studies two words came in mind i.e.

1.Connectivity

2.Random arrangement

This how I have done my

zoning. I have placed it like

this so that all flats get the

sea view along with natural

light and ventilation.

I decided to have 5 apartments in this

area, each apartment beings of different

size. The tallest building will be of 66m

And the other building would be 30m

long But it can wary as we go further.

From this view we can see the sea from each view and from ground floor to top floor every one can see the view

The red and black is the indication of balconies These are the normal balcony which every apartment has.

In this stage I only thought of making cubical balconies

Then later on I thought of taking bed room out , not balcony. The bed room will be cantilever or it will look will cut out section. This is only done for aesthetic purpose.

This is how

the building will look in

plan.

The bed

room will be

arrange

randomly.

Random balcony

placement

Because of the random

placement every balcony

will get proper ventilations

and sun light.

This is not final

but every units will get 2

cantilever things.

The idea of the project is to provide a new ideas, that will improve our society. Let us take an ambitious, innovative, environmentally

responsible approach to the design. By providing dynamic solutions to public needs we can satisfy the changing mindsets of the clients.

An understanding of the scale of the project is essential to create a dialogue in the context

OBJECTIVES :

Requirements:

Convention center :

Page 10: Architectural portfolio

Site considerations : Location: The site is near Ghoti – Sinner highway,

Keshar bag, pandhurli, Nasik.

Area: The area of the site is roughly 13 acres in

area.

Slope: The site slopes 5m from the north to the

southfront.

Climate: Average temperature between 30-40°C

in Summer and 15-25°C in Winter.

Wind pattern: The wind fluctuates from South-East

to North-West

Hard Strata 3-6 feet below the ground level.

Vegetation On Site –Mango, Chickoo, coconut trees

Case study :

Location: Zaragoza – Spain Type: convention center - Public Client: Government of Aragón Architects: Nieto Sobejao

The new Auditorium and Convention Centre portrays a fractional and varied profile – ascending

and descending – in dialogue with the different spaces

housed in its interior and manifesting expressively the presence of natural light

and the meeting point of the building with the ground. Like a white shining cover,

a great roof gently envelopes the different structures sheltering a large

interior space – fluid and continuous – which demonstrates the public and

institutional character of its purpose The building's roofs are carefully

angled to protect the interior spaces from Spain's harsh southern sun, and a

series of skylights were installed to capture sunlight and carry it through all

of the center's levels and rooms

WIND-PATH SOUTH-WEST TO NORTH-EAST SUN-PATH EAST TO WEST

About the site The site is located near Mumbai Agra Highway. Though it is placed near the highway,

it has a very peaceful and pleasant feel. One can see Nashik cities skyline standing on the highest point of the site. Soil type is hard and rocky. It has a backdrop of beautiful sahyadries and the Pandav lenis in the south ,and view

of developing Nashik city in the north. No heavy vegetation spotted on the site. Though the nearby areas had trees.

INITIALY I STARTED THE EXPLORING THE FORM USING THE SITE BOUNDRIE. AFTER THAT ACCORDING TO THE VIEWS OF BUILDING FROM THE ROADS I STARTED WORKING ON ELEVATIONS ANS SIIMULTENUOUSLY PLANING GOT FINALIZE. BECAUSE OF THIS SHAPE OF PLANNING, BUILDING APPEARS AS IF ITS WLCOMING ALL FOUR SIDES OF THE CITY. THE AMINITY AND RESIDENTIAL BLOCK ARE DIFFERENT SO THAT CIRCULATION OF BOTH REMAINS SEPARETED.
