developed notably and has emerged as one of the largest education systems in the world.
However, it is facing many challenges like shortage ofresources, lack ofstudent's employability,
inadequate financial support, reorientation of academic programmes, paucity of the well
qualified teaching faculty etc. All, these are the major issues needed to be addressed in 2l't
century while the nation is proceeding towards the knowledge based society. With this
background, a two days state level seminar entitled "Problems and Prospective of Higher
Education in India" was conducted on 22nd and 23'd January 2015.
The seminar was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Dr. M. M. Salunke, Vice
Chancellor, Yashwantrao Chauvan Open University, Nashik. In his inaugural speech, Dr.
Salunke emphasized on the need of reforms in higher education. His speech was followed by the
discourse of Dr. Mrs. V. S. Patil, a well known educationist, Nashik, who focused on the
problem of resource shortage in higher education. Dr. S. V. Kadwekar, SPPU Pune, Principal Dr.
D. K. Mhaske, Principal Dr. B. J. Apparao and Mr Yuvraj Narode, SPPU, Pune, lialked on the

Key Note address by Hon’ble Dr. W.N. Gade Vice Chancellor, Savitribai Phule Pune University
Conclusion: it was a very encouraging experience to organize and conduct the international
conference in a small village like Loni. It was an rare opportunity to the staff and students to have
interactions with internationally acclaimed scholars and scientists. We are confident that the
international conference has given new approach and direction to the young researchers and scholars
particularly related to Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Material Sciences. Due to the support
and cooperation from the Pravara Rural Education Society and the Pravara Institute of Medical
Sciences we could achieve the grand success.
Thanking You
