2nd Sunday of Easter
“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As
the Father has sent me, so I send you.’”
- John 20:21
Peace – the first gift of the risen Lord. Just as Jesus
sent the apostles out into the world to share His peace
and Good News, so too, He sends us. As disciples of
Jesus, we are called to be grateful and generous. We
should look for opportunities to share His peace with
our brothers and sisters not only within our local par-
ish boundaries, but outside of them as well. In giv-
ing, you will receive the peace of Christ.
How do we begin to describe the Peace of Christ?
There were two painters who were commissioned to
paint a picture that showed perfect peace. The first
painted a beautiful, serene setting of green trees,
many multi-colored flowers, a peaceful pathway
through the woodland with birds flying, butterflies
lighting on the plush plants, and a blue green body of
water drifting by and a gentle breeze stirring the
leaves.
The second composed a horrid storm--wind blowing
with great force, lightening blazing through the ugly
blackened sky, trees swaying in the violet disturbance
all around, animals running for cover. Then we notice
there is a small bird huddled down in a safe part of a
huge tree-who shows no fear--but complete serenity--
in perfect peace. The second artist was declared to
have painted a picture showing "PERFECT PEACE".
No matter how much torment that was going on
around the bird--he was in a place of comfort, sereni-
ty, and unwavering trust.
Isn't this the perfect peace our God speaks about
when He declares, "You will keep Him in perfect
peace, Him whose mind is stayed on you, because He
trusts in You? -(Isaiah 25:3)

As Catholic Christians we are called by our Lord to con-
tinue our understanding and knowledge of our Catholic
faith, the Sacred Scriptures, and our need to share our
faith with others. These areas are covered in our Catholic
Focus class every Sunday morning at 9:45 AM in the
Catholic Focus room in the Faith Formation building.
We receive our lessons for the week (on a monthly basis)
via email--to download and prepare for the lesson on the
following Sunday. The lessons are based on the Mass
Scriptures for that particular week. We have a catechist
that leads the class as we ponder and discuss how the
Scriptures encourage us to actually "LIVE AND APPLY
THEIR UNDERSTANDING TO THE MANNER IN
WHICH WE LIVE OUR LIVES". Adults of all ages are
welcome. We look forward to meeting and greeting you
as we grow in our knowledge of God's Calling in our
lives-to become the Disciples and Stewards we are
"called" to be. Please stop by and see for yourselves.

Believe one who has tried, you shall find a fuller sat-
