SANATORIUMLast June, a new gallery/cafe called Sanatorium opened in the subcultural mecca of north Tenjin. It is a branch of the Fushigi Hakubutsukan—a creative space in Nakagawa Town. The white interior features anatomical models, medical devices and the owner’s art. The banana shake, like a barium swallow, comes in a beaker. The sweets change daily and also come in off-the-wall containers. You cannot photograph the nurse uniform-clad staff or some of the exhibits, but this only adds to the cafe’s mystique. The vibe may be weird, but who knows, you might just feel right at home.

Sanatorium - 不思議博物館分室在福岡次文化商店聚集的北天神街道裡。不思議博物館（那珂川町）分店─藝廊咖啡廳「Sanatorium」，於去年六月開幕由模型家擔任館長。店裡展示人體模型和醫療器材等館長的作品；提供燒杯盛裝的香蕉奶昔，以及各樣奇怪容器裝著的下午茶點心。店中也販售次文化原創商品。雖然扮成護士的店員「不思議醬」和部份展示品不能拍攝，但光是在現場就能品味到一種怪誕有趣的著迷氣氛！

光雲神社位於西公園裡的賞櫻景點光雲神社，主要祭祀福岡藩主的黑田官兵衛和黑田長政。地處博多灣突起的丘陵頂端，可以將福岡市區和博多灣盡收眼底。社殿是 1966 年再次建立，以福岡民謠「黑田節」為藍本建造的大銅像，手裡也拿著歌詞裡出現的大杯站立著。做為黑田氏居住的福岡城，因為彷彿鶴群飛舞的模樣而稱作是舞鶴城，天花板也描繪著各式鶴的圖案；在這裡投錢參拜的時候，好像也能聽到鶴的聲音呢！

사나트리움조형작가가 관장인 이상한 박물관의 분실로써 2015년 6월에 탄생한 사나트리움. 내부는 흰색으로 통일되어 있고 인체모형과 의료기구, 관장의 작품 등이 전시되어 있다. 바륨을 떠올리게 하는 바나나 셰이크의 용기는 비커이고 푸딩, 핫케이크 등의 간식류는 오리지널 디자인한 신기한 형태의 용기에 담겨 나온다. 간호사처럼 꾸미고 있는 직원과 전시물의 촬영은 일부 금지되어 있으나 보고만 있어도 이상한 나라에 온 듯한 분위기를 충분히 즐길 수 있다. 서브컬처를 테마로 한 기획전이 열리며 오리지널 굿즈도 판매.

테루모 신사벚꽃놀이의 명소로도 인기 있는 니시코엔(공원)에 위치한 테루모 신사. 후쿠오카번의 첫 영주였던 쿠로다 나가마사와 그의 아버지를 모신 신사이다. 이곳에서는 후쿠오카 시내와 하카타만을 둘러볼 수 있다. 경내에는 민요 ‘쿠로다부시’의 모델이 된 무사의 큰 동상이 가사에도 등장하는 커다란 잔을 들고 서 있다. 현재의 신사는 1966년에 재건된 것으로 쿠로다 가문이 거주했던 후쿠오카성이 학이 하늘을 나는 듯한 아름다운 모습을 하고 있다 하여 마이즈루성이라 불렸던 데에서 유래한 학 그림이 천장에 그려져 있다.

TERUMO JINJA SHRINEWith 1,300 cherry trees, Nishi Park is one of Fukuoka’s premier hanami spots. At the top of the stairs sits Terumo Shrine, dedi-cated to Kanbei Kuroda and his son Nagamasa (the first ruler of the Fukuoka Domain). Its location on a strip of land jutting into Hakata Bay affords wonderful vistas of the ocean and the city. Inside the shrine grounds stands a bronze statue of the famous samurai Tahei Bori holding a giant sake cup. The current shrine was rebuilt in 1966 - including the beautiful crane decoration on the ceiling, which sings when you throw money into the donation box.

에도소바 와비스케메밀에 반해 메밀 장인의 길을 선택한 오너 야마모토씨 부부가 경영 중인 와비스케. 그해 가장 잘된 메밀을 사들여 절구로 가루를 직접 빻아 매일 가게에서 손으로 국수를 뽑아낸다. 일본산 밀가루가 첨가되어 목에서 부드럽게 넘어가는 니하치 소바가 기본이나 ‘이나카 세이로’도 빼놓 을 수 없다. 메밀껍질째로 절구에서 갈아낸 가루와 검은 외피를 벗겨낸 메밀 열매를 살짝 갈아낸 가루를 반죽해 1일 5인분만 한정판매하는 특별한 소바로 소박한 풍미와 씹히는 맛이 특징. 우선 소금을 살짝 뿌려 메밀 본연의 단맛과 풍미를 느껴보시길. 쭉 소금을 뿌려 먹어도 좋지만 장국에 ‘살짝’ 담갔 다 먹어 도 좋 다. 1인 분 씩 삶 아 내 는 소바는 시간이 지나면 풍미가 변하니 나오면 바로 먹는 것이 좋다.

EDO SOBA WABISUKE In the quiet neighborhood of Shirogane, you will find Wabisuke, a soba shop that still grinds its buckwheat by hand with a mortar and pestle. The Yamamotos, the shop’s husband-and-wife owners, buy their high-grade buckwheat direct from the farmers. Some of it is ground by hand for inaka seiro, a special soba made from a mix of buckwheat including crushed whole soba kernels. Only five bowls of this bouncy, hearty soba are available per day. Try a tiny pinch of salt with your first bite to bring out the true flavor. Then continue with salt, or switch to dipping sauce. (Remember: only dip the tips of the noodles; dipping an entire chopstickful is considered gauche.) Soba should be eaten immediately, before it loses its flavor. This is especially true for the sobagaki, a traditional mixture of 100% soba flour and hot water topped with an (sweet bean paste). The owners recommend you savor some sake, graze on a side dish, and then finish off with soba.

江戸蕎麥佗介位處於都心閑靜佇立的像白金一般，在古民房中營業的手磨蕎麥麵店「佗介」。是由被「蕎麥」這個食材衍生出的飲食文化所吸引而踏上職人之路的山本夫婦經營。直接購買當年最佳蕎麥，現磨時混入小麥讓口感更加滑順，便是店裡的招牌「二八蕎麥麵」。另外也不能錯過「田舎蒸籠蕎麥麵」，加入蕎麥果實後，手打成每天限定五客的特別蕎麥麵。第一口先灑點鹽品嚐蕎麥的原味，接著沾點醬汁來享用吧！記得在煮好剛端出的最美味時開動。店中的蕎麥團子紅豆湯也別有風味；趁著天還亮的時候，享受著日本酒、下酒菜、蕎麥麵也是店主相當推薦的偷閒方式。

Located near Sumiyoshi Shrine, Na-niwa is run by second-generation owner Tadao Obayashi. His love of

local seafood stems from a part-time job at the Nagahama Seafood Market where he learned that “only fishermen know the true flavor of seafood.” Every day, he visits nearby fishing ports to procure the freshest local seafood and learn the best ways to prepare them from the fishermen. To make sure the true flavors stand center stage, he uses only simple, natural seasonings. If you go to Naniwa, you can’t go wrong with the chef’s choice course. Just let them know your preferences when you make a reservation. The course starts with an appetizer before moving on to sashimi, grilled and boiled dishes, sushi and soup. All in all, you can enjoy more than 20 different kinds of seafood in one sitting. English-speaking Obayashi regularly participates in sushi events overseas, where he enjoys introducing authentic Japanese cuisine. So, look no further for locally sourced seafood prepared by a consummate professional.

후쿠오카에서 맛있는 초밥과 회를 먹을 수 있는 것은 유통이 편리하기 때문. 항구와 시장이 도심부에서 가까워 금방 잡은 어패류를 신선한 상태로 식탁에서 만나볼 수 있다. 스미요시 신사 근처 스시 나니와의 2대째 오너 오바야시씨는 나가하마 선어시장에서 아르바이트하던 때에 후쿠오카의 수산물이 훌륭한 품질을 자랑한다는 것을 알게 되었다. 수산물은 어부들이 잘 안다며 매일 후쿠오카 근해의 항구로 찾아가 신선한 수산물과 어부들만이 알고 있는 어장 상황에 대한 정보도 조달해 온다. 그렇게 직접 엄선해 들여온 식자재를 잘 손질해 소금, 간장 등의 천연 조미료로 심플하게 조리해낸다. 스시 나니와의 기본은 셰프 특선 코스. 전채, 회, 구이, 조림, 초밥, 국으로 구성되어 있으며 약 20종 이상의 어패류를 맛볼 수 있다. 해외에서의 출장 서비스 등을 통해 다른 식문화권의 사람들에게 맛있는 요리 선보이기를 좋아하는 오너는 영어로도 커뮤니케이션이 가능하다. 선뜻 발을 들이기 힘들다는 인식이 있는 초밥집이지만 프로가 엄선한 신선한 식자재를 사용해 선보이는 일식의 살아있는 퍼포먼스에 참가한다는 생각으로 꼭 한 번 스시 나니와에 방문해 보기를 바란다.

HIKOSAN JINGU SHRINE GOJINKOSAIOn the first day of this festival, three portable shrines are carried 900 steps (200 m) down Mt. Hikosan. On the second, priests rush them back up to cheering crowds. This gojinkosai (ritual transfer of a god’s body away from its main shrine) dates back to when asceticism was popular in the area. Lion dances too!

英彦山神宮御神幸祭

英彥山神宮御神幸祭做為被崇拜的神山 - 英彥山的修行山道裡，從修行者新年祭演化而來四月的御神幸祭。第一天是將山腰奉幣殿的三座神轎迅速經過九百階石階下山；第二天則是經過 200m 的險升坡石階將神轎扛上山，使圍觀者不禁拍手喝采。也為神奉上幼兒舞及獅子舞的演出。

히코산 진구 고진코우사이신령이 머문다 하여 숭배의 대상으로 여겨지는 히코산에서 열리는 행사. 첫째 날에는 히코산 중턱에서부터 3개의 가마가 약 900단에 이르는 돌계단을 따라 내려오며 둘째 날에는 200m짜리 급경사 돌계단을 가마를 지고 오르며 관객들의 박수갈채를 자아낸다.

NAKAYAMA WISTERIA FESTIVALDesignated a natural monument of Japan, Kumano Jinja Shrine’s 300-year-old trees drape wisteria across 1,700 m2 of trellises. By day, take in the sight and aroma of the cascading purple flowers (stretching down over a meter) and browse stalls selling local goods, then enjoy a different view during the nighttime light-up.

SAKE HOPPING HAKATA在戶外舉行是今年最讓人期待的事！福岡內 12 間餐廳和 12 間酒廠共同嚴選的日本酒和料理，與醬油釀造場舉辦的一夜限定日本酒盛會。用特製酒杯享受梯子酒（日本酒 300 円〜 /60ml），邊享用各店自豪的下酒菜（300 円〜），邊和店主們愉快的聊天！

第 13 回中山大藤祭樹齡約 300 年，中山熊野神社裡被指定為國家天然記念物的中山大藤，有著超過 1,700m2 的藤架和藤花長達一公尺以上的花房、垂墜出令人讚嘆的美麗，讓優雅的花香魅惑了來訪的人。白天是當地農產品的物產展，夜間點起燈營造出夢幻的藤的演出。

사케 호핑 하카타사케를 사랑하는 후쿠오카의 음식점 12곳과 양조장 12곳이 손잡고 엄선된 사 케와 요리를 제공하 는 이벤트. 입장자 에게 특 전으 로 주어지는 오리지널 잔을 들고 이곳저곳 자리를 옮겨가며 각종 사케를 즐겨보자(사케 300엔~/60ml). 안주는 300엔부터.

제13회 나카야마 등나무 축제천연기념물로 지정되어있는 나카야마 쿠마노 신사의 등나무 수령은 약 300년. 1m 이상에 이르는 꽃송이가 1,700m2에 걸쳐 아름답게 커튼을 드리우고 있다. 낮에는 지역 농산물 판매전, 밤에는 조명으로 밝혀진 환상적인 등나무를 만나볼 수 있다.

2016 長崎帆船まつり

2016 NAGASAKI TALL SHIPS FESTIVALJapan’s top tall ships event attracts ships from both Japan and abroad. Catch the arrival parade, watch a sailing drill performance, board towering tall ships, join a cruise of Nagasaki Port, or take a canoeing or knot-tying class. Ships are illuminated at night and there are fireworks on the 23rd and 24th from 20:30.

2016 長崎帆船祭日本最棒的帆船盛會！來自國內外各樣的帆船聚集在港都長崎。除了有將純白的帆全開的揚帆訓練、船內參觀與乘船在長崎港內巡迴體驗之外，還有繩結教室等活動。在藍天下揚起令人嚮往的純白的帆，夜晚用燈火將帆船照亮；在 23、24 日晚間八點半有煙火秀表演。

2016 나가사키 범선 축제항구 도시 나가사키에 각종 범선이 집결하는 일본 제일의 범선 축제. 새하얀 돛을 펼치는 퍼포먼스와 선내 공개, 나가사키항 내 체험 크루즈 외에도 로프 묶는 법을 가르쳐주는 체험형 이벤트도. 23일, 24일에는 20시 반부터 불꽃놀이가 펼쳐진다.

THE FOOD LABRestaurants with oishii food and good service are easy to find in Fukuoka, and there’s always something new on the foodie scene. Recently, more and more restaurants are hosting events, from guest-chef dinners to cooking classes. Some have adapted their existing layouts and others have been purpose-built with multifunction use in mind. The recently opened Naka Labo, with counter seats overlooking the open kitchen, makes dining out as entertaining as it is gastronomically gratifying.

DASHI Dashi, a soup stock that forms one of the culinary cornerstones of Japanese cuisine, has always been commonly used in powder or dried-flake form. Around 2005, dashi from Kayanoya, a long-established soy sauce maker, became a huge hit amongst cooking enthusiasts. Their dashi uses five carefully selected ingredients (all additive-free), and the dashi powder is packaged into sachets, making it convenient yet delicious. Recently more Western-style dashi and vegetable stock are being sold.

美食食材 – 高湯日本家家戶戶必備的高湯，是使用粉末狀的調理品或者是用柴魚片熬煮出來的。茅乃舎的高湯於 2005 年的時候，在對著喜好料理，有著品味堅持的女性族群中爆紅。茅乃舎的高湯是由福岡縣的醬油老店，嚴選五種的天然素材研磨成粉狀的美味食材。使用上不但簡單上手，煮出的好味道更不用多說。現在可以購買到野菜風味、洋風風味還有多樣不同風味的高湯。

Fukuoka Castle Sakura FestivalThe Fukuoka Castle Sakura Festival will be held at Maizuru Park from Mar. 25 to Apr. 3. Cherry trees and castle ramparts will be lit up between 18:00 and 22:00, and there will be several food stalls. Coinciding with this, Korokan Plaza will open, and a new section next to the plaza will also be lit up. You can also pay ¥300 to enjoy a special light-up of the castle keep (18+ only).

Revamped Central Children’s Center to OpenOn Apr. 1, a new and improved Central Children’s Center (aka Aikuru) for kids of all ages will open on the 5th to 7th floors of Nishitetsu Tenjin Class. Like the old center, kids can enjoy unicycling and roller skating on the rooftop. The 7th floor will have a multipurpose room with mirrors and practice handrails and a sound-proof music room where bands can rehearse. The new spaces are perfect for dancing, crafts and studying. NPO and Volunteer-Related ConsultationsThe Fukuoka NPO/Volunteer Exchange Center (aka Asumin) offers consultations and information on NPOs and volunteer opportunities, provides venues for meet-ings and assists with activities. On Apr. 1, the center will reopen on the 4th floor of Nishitetsu Tenjin Class (1-19-22 Imaizumi) with a bigger and better 80-person semi-nar room and 10-person meeting room. Having Trouble? Visit Your Local Ward Office or City HallCounselors and a variety of experts are on hand in the Citizen Consultation Sections at City Hall and each Ward Office to help you with your problems free of charge. These sections also distribute 40 tickets for free consultations at the Tenjin Law-yers Center (5 Watanabe-dori, Chuo-ku) starting on the first Friday of every month. Please Use Public TransportationCity Hall is undertaking a variety of measures to alleviate congestion in the city center and promote the use of public transportation. One of these is the Park-and-Ride initiative, a system of parking lots near train stations and bus stops for people transferring to public transport, offered in partnership with Aeon Mall Fukuoka Ito, Konoha Mall Hashimoto and Aeon Mall Kashiihama. Fukuoka City Public Library Hours to Be ExtendedThe Fukuoka City Public Library (3-7-1 Momochihama) turns 20 this year. In an effort to offer better service, the hours of operation will be extended one hour start-ing Apr. 1 (Tue. ~ Sat.: 10:00~20:00; Sun./Hol.: 10:00~19:00). The library is closed on Mondays (or the following weekday if Monday is a holiday) and the last day of every month.
