EastEnders poster analysis

This is a poster from the recent storyline of who killed Lucy Beale . This poster is shown to have a mysterious background of a dark shadow , as it shows half faces of the characters that could be the killer on top shown at the top of the poster to suggest an untold secret . This is conveyed by the use of the blunt facial expressions shown on the characters faces to determine uncanny personalities within this storyline. The image below is an image of the eyes of Lucy Beale , the variation of half the faces of the characters on the top of the posters and image of lucy beales eyes reviews an artistic way on presenting the story though her eyes.

The faded mist –To creates a classic horror genre aspect of the hand slide across the window which gives the audience an uncanny atmosphere .

The positioning of the photos determines the rule of thirds are in place

However in this EastEnders poster it differs to the one shown before. As this one is more simplistic ,however still contains the darkness of the storyline, because of the shadow around the area that the killing had commenced around. The use of white writing on the mast head attracts the viewers towards the storyline , as the colour can signify a momentous moment in the soap.The use of the drop shadow on the masthead creates the masthead to have intense feel to not only the poster but the storyline.

Drop shadow on the masthead-The drop shadow on the masthead seems to blend in with the portrayal of the corruption of the storyline of a murder investigation ,which unlocks the darkness of the soap.

The shadow of the location creates a intensed atmosphere within the poster.

The light shining on the characters shows the pin point of the characters . The use of lighting suggests that these are the characters involved in the storyline that could be the susceptive killer of the storyline.

Hollyoak poster analysisThis poster conveys an altercation between fire as it is shown through the fiery image on the poster. We can emphasis that the characters placed in the posters have relation to the fire such as either being involved or an victim of the fire. Overall this image conveys that the lives of these people will change through this storyline . However this poster connotes to different expressions through the characters faces such as guilt and pain, in particular through the eyes. The eyes are shown in different directions which determines the different effects of the storylines .

The tagline designates that ‘That week will change Hollyoaks forever’ . This determines that a change within the soap ,possibly a loss of a character or characters, which could change the outcome of the soap in the long term.

The date displayed on the poster of Friday 5th November and onwards determines the importance of the start of that week as it is the only week that is highlighted .

The institution logo is shown on the poster . This tells the audience what channel is the soap is on to create awareness for the storyline.

Hollyoaks poster analysis 2The imagery of this poster shows a couple getting ready to wed . However it is shown by the use of dark atmosphere that the outcome of the poster is unpleasant . The facial expressions shown are to have sadness in their eyes which determines the outcome of the storyline is emotive. Concluding in the use of black clothing and a church which signifies death.

The institution logo is shown to be red , the use of red emphasises death shown through the poster . As red can symbolise the blood of possible death in the storyline.

The tagline is also highlighted in red which also with the theme of death and pain.

The date is shown to be close to Halloween which determines the reasoning for the date . Therefore showing the seasonal aspect of the storyline.
