Descr i pt ion: A web page des ig ned to s howcase a persona l l y created logo.

Process (Programs, Too ls , Sk i l l s) : I created th is web page by start i ng out with an HTML in TextWrang le r . Learn ing how to structure a web page was very benef ic ia l to th is process. Once I had everyth ing structured cor rect ly , I l inked the HTML to a CSS f i le . Th is CSS f i le he lped me add the des ign e lements to the web page. Th is a lso was hard to learn but very benef ic ia l . Us ing the CSS f i le , I put in my des i red co lo rs and images that re lated to my logo. I a lso changed my fonts to go a long with the fee l of a young ch i l d ’s lemonade stand. I used the eyedropper too l f rom Photoshop to get the exact co lo rs f rom my logo. I a lso used subt l ed es igns.com to get my background image, which I then took into Photoshop to make ye l low.

Changes made to the CSS: I changed the font fami l i es , changed the prev ious comments, changed the background and padd ings, and I a lso changed the co lo rs to match my logo.

Descr ipt ion: A two s ided (dup lex) fo ld ing brochure.

Process (Programs, Too ls , Sk i l l s) : In Adobe InDes ign I set up my pages and drew gu ide l ines to represent where I wou ld fo ld the brochure. I had p icked out my images before I started so I p laced the fu l l b leed cat in the f ie ld image across the f i rst page. Th is wou ld serve as the f ront and back of the brochure. I p laced my des i red images/ logo and text. I later ga ined the sk i l l s to do text wrapp ing. Us ing Adobe Photoshop, I took out the background of the image of the woman. I brought it back into InDes ign and used the ‘text wrap’ opt ion to wrap the text around the image us ing the “a lpha channe l ” .

The l ogo was des igned i n Adobe I l l ust rator . I used to pen too l to trace an image of a paw pr int and create the heart . I combined the two and brought them back into InDes ign.

For the ins ide I b locked of f a sect ion with the tea l co lo r . I p laced the t it le and text on th is page but le ft room for a l i tt le cut out for the logo. I wanted to add an e lement of surpr i se and have the logo be sp l i t up part ia l l y onto two pages. Although they were sp l i t , they st i l l acted as one e lement. I repeated the logo on the back. I p laced the p ictures on the s ide so they wou ld show through whether the brochure was open or c losed. I used the pen too l to create the curved s ides on the p ictures.

Once I had pr inted my pro ject in the Spor i , I t r immed the edges on a cutt ing board and hand cut the s ide and paw pr int of my des ign.

Descr i pt ion: An i nsp i rat iona l montage made by the b lend ing of two or more images, and the use of typography.

Process: I dec ided on three images; a g i r l, the ga laxy, and a moon. I n Photoshop, I used the g i r l as the background; I layered the ga laxy on top o f her and brought the opac ity down so you cou l d see her face. Then I masked and brought her eyes back out. I d id th e same th i ng to the moon on the l e ft s ide. Her eyes were or ig ina l ly brown so I used Replace Color. I cou ld n’t f igu re out how to get it to work i n CS6 Photoshop, so I used Corel Photopaint. I t d id the same effect. Ieye-d ropped the d es i red colo r of b lue. I brought a l itt l e more cont rast to the eyes by br i ng i ng out the b lack eye l ashes. I a lso added a s l ight f i lte r. I chose to go with the D i f fuse Glow fi lter so it d i dn’t ta ke away f rom the image. I added the tex t i n last. I b roug ht down the opac i ty on the word ‘Dreams’ so the body copy wou l d stand out more.

Message: I wanted to convey more of a myster ious message. One that anyone can i nter pret howeve r they want to.

P rocess (P rog r ams , Too l s , Sk i l l s ) : I f i r s t dec i ded my co l o r scheme . I chose the comp l imenta ry pu rp l e and ye l l ow because i t seemed l i k e a more comp l i c a ted scheme to t ry . I had a ye l l ow sca r f that I a r r anged w i th a co f f ee mug . My hopes were that the ye l l ow wou l d g i ve i t a warm inv i t i n g fee l i n g and the pu rp l e wou l d d raw the at tent i on i n . I shot the image w i th my T2 i Rebe l Canon camera and ed i t ed the backg round to be pu rp l e . I used the i ns t r uc ted des i gn techn i ques a l so : l e ve l s , sha rpness , satu r a t i on , and co l o r ba l ance . I added the des i gn e l ements o f the repeat i ng l i n es and the tex t . Afte r the c r i t i que , my g roup suggested I ta r ge t the fema l e aud i ence . So I Photoshopped a l i p s t i c k ma rk on the mug . Ove ra l l i t i s ve ry s imp l e , but that i s what I was i n tend i ng .

Message : I wanted to appea l to the g i r l s wa l k i ng a round on campus . I wanted th i s to po r t r ay the message to come get f r ee hot choco l a te and warm up wh i l e ta l k i ng to new f r i ends . The co l o r scheme i s i n tended to be g i r l y and warm.
