Department :1Solar energyWe are responsible for designing solar arrays for homes and businesses

Solar power in New Zealand is responsible for 0.1 % of energy generation

The overall cost of solar panels have been going down therefore usage is increasing.Largest solar power plant

Yealand Estate winery in BlenheimYealand Estate wineryThere are a total of 297 individual solar panels

The total energy output is 133,000 kWh which is enough to power 17 New Zealand households for one year.

The panels only cover the north side of the winery

It took four weeks to completeBenefitsInstallation of solar panels allow you to be off the grid, therefore you are not paying any electricity bills

New Zealand gets around 2000 hours of sunlight every year, therefore making solar energy a reliable source of energy generation

Average cost for owning solar panels are around $250 per year.

DrawbacksWould not be as efficient in winter

Cost of solar panels, installation and maintenance increase the payback period making it suitable as a long term investment
