Hey GLACURH!Today, I am before you all to present my bid for Associate
Director for Administration and Finance for the 2018-2019 Regional Board of Directors. I began my GLACURH journey with the last No Frills, No Frills 2016, hosted at Ball State University. I will never forget the absolute awe I felt as Haylie Chamarro called boardroom to order that Friday night. It was the passion that was exemplified by the student leaders at that conference, and at every conference I have attended since, that has carried me through being the NCC for Oakland University, through five regional conferences, through two NACURH Annual Conferences, and my first term as Associate Director for Administration and Finance.
For a brief overview of my time with GLACURH and NACURH, I have held three positions within the organization, attended Eight conferences, served on five task forces, received three recognition/award pins, written two positional bids, written two award bids, and published one article on behalf of the region. Completing all of these has not only given me deep, personal fulfillment, but has also energized me to keep going and to challenge myself to see what I can still accomplish.
In my time as Associate Director for Administration and Finance, I have accomplished a lot, and there is still more yet to do. I have, so far, worked with two different finance chairs for our regional conferences, written literature about our Polar Points and regarding the conference excess generated by the Regional Business Conference Staff hosted at Southern Illinois University, attended the NACURH Semi-Annual Business Meeting on behalf of our region, and countless other items. This position has offered me so many amazing opportunities to learn and grow as both an individual and as a professional and I aim to continue with these opportunities if elected to a second term.
In polar bear love and celebration,
Allen Dahlka
