English IV Mr. Worden To create a notecard:

Begin by making sure you are in your “Bibliography” tab.

Locate the source that you want to take a note from, and click on the “New” link that is directly to the right of the source. This will create a new notecard for your source.

English IV Mr. Worden

Your title should be a brief phrase (just 1-2 words) that highlights what your notecard will be about.

You have two options: 1) Paste text directly from your

source in the box on the left. OR

2) Paraphrase/summarize a fact or idea from your source.

The “My Ideas” box is for you to add any thoughts or notes of your own. Is there a place where you would want to use your note in your paper? Does this notecard match with another? Is there something else that you want to research?

When you’re all done, click “Save.”

NoodleTools – Creating Piles Once you have all of your research notecards, it is fairly easy to organize them into piles – or sections for your paper. Pair similar notecards, and match up those that you think will work well together.

Begin by making sure you are in your “Notecards” tab.

You should see all of your notecards here on the dashboard.

To create a pile, hold down Ctrl and click on the notecards that you want to pair together. Then, click “Add to Pile.”

NoodleTools – Outline

Once you have created the outline, it is a simple matter of dragging relevant note cards onto sections of the outline to fill it out with evidence. The final stage of your Noodle Tools Odyssey will be to export your annotated bibliography into your I-Search essay. Here’s how to do that:

You can either add your selected notecards to a pile that you have already created, or you can create a new one.

You can begin creating your outline right in NoodleTools. On the right is your “Outline” box, where you can create your Roman numerals.

You can rename the sections already given to you, and you can make them subpoints clicking on the directional arrows. These will change them from a Roman numeral to a letter.

Drag and drop your notecards where you want them in your paper.

When you’re all done, hit the print button. This will export your outline to Word.

The up and down arrows change the order for your sections.

Copy everything (ctrl C) and then paste it (ctrl v) into the bottom of your finished essay. NOTE: The works cited page should start on its own page, so drop down to a new page before pasting it in. (Hint: Ctrl Enter goes straight to the next blank page).
